It would be totally fitting if Verlander and Cole were co- Cy Young award winners this year.

Astros and Dodgers in the WS. As a Dodger fan, I do not like our chances...again. We match up well offensively. Pitching is close. However, our bullpen is shaky which IMO will be the difference.

You would think the Astros would break the bank to resign him but I think he will end up in Philly or San Diego

@Let's Go Champ I know that they will have the money to spend it is will they be willing to go 7-8 years on a contract for Cole, not saying it is out of the question but they will be competing with alot of teams and somebody will be willing to overpay. I hope they sign him we will see

    • Let's Go Champ
Let's Go Champ 3 months ago

@Christina Garner I think they will gladly spend the money, especially if they don't get to or win the world series. There's a ton of money coming off the books in the next 2 years. CC's done thats 8M, we'll see on Gardy and Didi. The following year Happ, Tanaka and Ellsbury come off the books thats roughly $60M right there.

@Let's Go Champ He let him slip through his fingers before to Houston and I do not see Jr. Allowing Cashman to spend 35 million plus a year for 6 to 7 year contract and that is what it will take to sign him

    • Let's Go Champ
Let's Go Champ 3 months ago

I don't see Cashman letting him slip through his fingers a third time. He's been after Cole for 10 years now, I'd be shocked if he isn't a Yankee next season.

@Andrew Han On top of you guys bringing in Greinke and his contract,(35M a year even though they defered a lot of that money they still have to pay it) the pay bump that Altuve gets next season (9.5M this year goes to 29M a year for the next 5 years) and having to sign Springer to a big deal after next year. I agree there's noway Houston can afford to resign Cole, I expect the Yankees to break the bank on him.

    • Aaron Johnson
Aaron Johnson 3 months ago +6

JV and Cole both deserve the CYA, so just give it to them both - there's precedent: in 1969 it was split between Mike Cuellar of the Orioles and Denny McLain of the Tigers.

@benny &jets FromChicago Yankees are done. Way too many injuries. The Twins are healthy and hungry.
