In the Phantom Menace, Qui Gon is investigating the attack with the dart, there's a deleted scene where he's in the library talking to a droid and he learns important info about the origin of the dart. The scene is barely a minute, it would have helped the investigation part to leave it in.

Indiana Jones would know to close his eyes and not look at the Ark of the Covenant because, obviously, as a historian and professor of archaeology, had read the Hebrew scriptures (the Old Testament of the Christian Bible), which refer specifically to that. D’oh!

You should add 'Riddick' to this list, you hear a lot about him being a Fureon but its not until i watched an uncut or directors cut version without realising it and there was an addition 5 minute section about Riddick, where he came from, his home, how it was destroyed and explained him so much....
Sometimes they take such important bits out!!!

The Prometheus scene doesn't work with multiple engineer aliens. With the single alien it looks like it decided to abandon it's fellows and sacrifice itself to create a new life. Kind of like how a certain titan in greek mythology decided to go against the will of the gods and gave fire to humanity, despite their wishes, and ended up being chained to the top of a mountain for it.
While both scenes credit the engineer with being the creator of humanity, like the greek titan who helped make humans out of clay. Only the theatrical scene that was kept manages to portray him as something of a rebel and sets up why the engineers hate humans and actually want to destroy us. Because we weren't suppose to exist.

Here's a cut scene nobody remembers from the original VHS start of Lawnmower Man: The chimp gets shot escaping but survives and some hours later stumbles onto Jobe's shack. Jobe thinks the chimp is cyboman (cyberman?) the comic book hero and befriends him. The shop shows up minutes later, and kills the chimp in front of Jobe causing him to collapse crying. The priest is bribed by the shop and later whips Jobe to make him keep the chimp's execution a secret. After being whipped, Jobe assembles the lawnmower 'Big Red'. It explains his inside knowledge of the chimpanzee later in the film without telepathy being a factor and adds to his familiarity with and hostility towards the shop's personnel.
They changed the start of the film for the DVD release, probably because the original was a bit preposterous (even for a small town) and it only added a small amount of character development.
The (only?) DVD release of the film has the start almost everyone knows instead, where the chimp gets killed exiting the shop facility and then cuts to Pierce Brosnan waking up from a nightmare. The scene where Jobe is whipped was kept in and the context was changed to a punishment for shirking his duties to the church (bug spraying termites/ants).

The Ark part is easier, in the bible it says to not look into the Ark nor touch it sinse is an offense to God, and the consequence will be death, not by human hand. Also note, that it is said that no one can look at good and stay alive, due to his mighty presense and whatnot. So basically, do not look inside you stay alive. But then again, you need to happen to read the Tora or the Bible sooooo...

    • José Anderson
      José Anderson 2 months ago

+George Williams You can see god and survive, thats what god told Moses in the mountain, to prenvent people to go near the mountain, also it is said that Gods presense is in the Ark, therefor, dont look in the ark.

    • George Williams

Lock stock and two smoking barrels - the directors cut shows a scene where Alan (AKA Bricktop from Snatch) and Eddy (JD's son) are talking about why Harry is after JD so badly. It is not included in the original cut (I actually saw the DC one first and was amazed they had removed it when I saw the original on TV some years later... but I digress....) as it makes the whole film make a lot more sense. Without that, it's just some guys trying to make money after losing at cards - the DC gives it much more meaning and purpose...

Aliens (Alien sequel) .. A lot of things doesn´t make sense in that movie before you watch the "Editors cut" edition. On colony LV-426 the aliens for some odd reason uses the crawlspace under the cealing to get to Ripley and the rest instead of just threading their way through the doors, as they did to get to the initial colonists. Answer in "editors cut", sentry guns outside the doors. Those plot gaps are everywhere, it sucks rhino horn :(

In response to an earlier comment, there are definitely some major excisions in Lord of the Rings, Return of the King, leaving behind questions that the extended version clears up. First and foremost, how did the Palantir, Saruman's seeing stone, end up in the water near Saruman's tower, conveniently available for Pippin to find? Well, in the extended version, Grima Wormtongue betrays Saruman by stabbing him in the back (something perfectly in keeping with Grima's character). Saruman, who is holding the seeing stone at the time, falls into the water with it; thus it is there for Pippin to scoop up./ Right before this scene, in the extended version, the two white wizards have a contest of power in which Gandalf magically snaps Saruman's staff in two. In the theater version, Saruman is presumed to be still alive, though imprisoned within his own tower walls. /In a separate deleted scene, during the siege of Minas Tirith, the witch king of Angmar confronts Gandalf and similarly breaks Gandalf's staff. With this latter scene deleted, Gandalf, in the cut version, is inexplicably shown throughout the rest of the movie devoid of his staff. Also, in the shortened theater version, after Pippin tells Gandalf that having the white wizard on their side has to count for something, a clearly troubled Gandalf reveals his concern over confronting the witch king; but then, in the theater version, no direct confrontation between them occurs. Since the scene, played out only in the extended version, in which the two lock horns is one of the coolest in the movie, I can only assume it was cut, because it makes Gandalf look too weak.

The black crap in Prometheus didn't have anything to do with creating us. The black crap was created to destroy the human race on earth. That's what one of the major story lines in the movie was all about. Why did they make this weapon to kill us, what did we do wrong?

  • Andrew Manche
    Andrew Manche 3 months ago

In Prometheus, the Engineers bred humans from their own DNA, in order to use the human race as incubators for Xenomorphs - they wanted a Xenomorph army
The derelict Engineers' ship on LV-426 was on a mission to seed the entire human race, the Engineer was to park his ship & remain in stasis til sufficient human population had grown. However the Engineers' stasis system malfunctioned and didn't wake him, thus he remained in stasis til humanity had technologically evolved sufficiently to find him
waking him from stasis sent him back on his original mission, to seed Humanity with Zenomorphs - fortunately our lil team stopped him by ramming his ship

Yes, you missed one big one for me.
    AMADEUS!!!!!!
I never understood why mozart's wife said to Salieri,
"I only regret I have no servant to show you out".
The line just made no fucking sense for years.
Then I finally saw in the extended version, which contains the scene where she goes to Salieri's house and strips off, only for him to call out for a servant to show her out while she's standing there half naked, thus humiliating her.
FINALLY!!! That whole thing made sense, it had bugged me for about 20 years.
