48 Hour Game Development Process - Global Game Jam 2020 - Unity 3D Game Jam Devlog

  • Published on Feb 14, 2020
  • Hey Everyone! This video covers the step by step development process of my Global Game Jam 2020 submission "Dungeon Repair". I recorded video clips and screen captures as I was developing this game to give you a behind the scenes compilation. It was a wild race against time but I was able to finish a pretty decent game within 48 hours!
I am a solo game developer with a strong background in 3D art. This channel is all about documenting my process, sharing helpful tips, and inspiring you to make your own games!

Damn you got a lot done for a jam, let alone a 48h solo jam. Really cool project!

Love the chill vibe of the video, and interesting game concept! Feel like it could have used some sort of "opponent" mechanic (is there any way to lose the game right now?). Also, making the repairing animation faster, and automatic when holding down mouse button would have made it a bit more engaged. Still impressive for 48 hours, solo dev!

Thanks for the kind words! Yea currently there is no way to lose. I ran out of time to implement AI and combat. The auto repair while holding down mouse is a good idea too! I'll keep these in mind for future projects. Thanks for watching

Ah thanks man! Your VR game seems like it could get a little scary once the water is over your head haha. Good work!

Might be a cool game if you had more time

That's a good idea! Fleshing out a more in depth crafting/repair system would add more depth to the game for sure.

@Billy JackmanOne idea might be to advance your basic feature where you have to not only use the hammer but where you have to find materials, e.g. planks for crates, stones for the pillar and stuff like that. Or something funny like smaller objects running away from you. Anyways really good work in that short time, seems like you grinded hard! :)

I agree. I've been trying to come up with a way to make a better version of this game but I don't have any solid ideas yet.
      Thanks for watching!
