I think that the reason the alcohol reacted so violently was because the microwaves caused the liquid to evaporate into the air, so the fire exploded because it was mixed with the air.

  • Machinegamer
    Machinegamer 6 days ago

Uhh, really? you guys really dont know even a bit of what happened there...
The fire produces heat as we all know, And a microwave as you may know uses a high voltage transformer (like 20kv). The high voltage on its own produces Arcs between its positive and negative. And, the arcs can produce way easier using a flaming hot air as conductor..

Explained fire can helps making plasma because the heat of the fire
And it sounds like a Jacob's Ladder and that has plasma in it and in a Jacob's Ladder you can use a fire for the spark if to wide
So what you are looking at is actually plasma!

If you look at the color of the flame, the whole process, the match is the ignition source nothing more, when the microwave creates a hho gas bubble of heated hho, it ignites and burns, the same as hho color ... I'd love to see it interaction's with a magnetic field to hold said plasma to experiment with...

Beautiful demonstration of high energy physics. The flame is hot enough to behave as a plasma, ie it is extremely conductive. The microwave beam dumps its energy into the plasma keeping it hot and keeping it conducting. The glass jar breaks because well plasmas are very hot.
Almost identical to a fusion reactor where the plasma is also heated by a microwave beam - though a vastly more powerful one. The difficult bit is containing the plasma and stopping the heat leaking away.
