I adore you for putting this together. I feel like this song, especially with the old movie clips really shows how we’ve always been here. Homophobes just mad we exist. Definitely wanna add some of these to my Watchlist!

I love how you worded it the same, now I have to mention: I have a playlist on Spotify going called “Always Been Here” and Im compiling songs from the 20s-70s that are kinda like LGBTQIA history... if u have time give it a listen it’ll shatter your sheltered world if u have oppressive Christian parents... gay has always been this way and is here to stay as I say

Thank you, I really wanted to convey the "we've always been here" message with this :)

this is so exceptionally lovely--the music is beautifully synchronized and the way you've done it makes it so celebratory. all of these are going on my letterboxd asap, many thanks! xx

Thank you! I really wanted it to feel like a celebration and to introduce people to new (old) films, so I'm glad it succeeded on both counts for you.

This compilation is SO well done! And you included my 2 favorites: Jolson in "Wonderbar" and Dietrich in "Morocco." (And a brief shot of Louise Brooks)

If you ever feel bad about yourself, just remember…
*Some old white masculine man in the 1920s wrote this song because he couldn’t handle the world changing around him. You’re already doing better than him by existing💖*

@LaVerdadEsMuyCatólica I hope you understood my comment and were referring to the homophobic bigots that Chiachi Mariachi was talking about.

@David precisely, Sir. We should fix such abominations.

Hey where do I find other songs like this. I love it. Old songs that talk about gay people or people who break the gender norms.

I learned about this song from the book "David Bowie Made Me Gay," which is kind of an encyclopedia of queer music history. There are probably also spotify playlists!

Great video! The problem is it’s 1 million times worse today!!! I don’t care what people do on their own time but when the administration is using taxpayers money to pay for gender studies it becomes aggravating!!!😡

Worse as in this was already bad? So why do you like the video again? Enough to put in in your favorites even?

Yup, all the student debt is just held by stem majors, art students and the social sciences totally get a free ride, that’s definitely how the system works. (this is sarcasm)

It's not even a problem, mate... Some of the people have always been transgender or non-binary, all that changed is that they got more or less acceptance with time.
