watching this vid from a kinspec ssd. For the price i think it works well, its not for tech savy beings, it works fine for average users and people on budgets.
Anyway it is not made for connoiseurs.

keep assuming the drive is bad but stats and your tests seems not too bad, if you claim that if it will slow down when drive is full then fill it up then test it again then instead of talking long with loud voice, just show the data

I recognize KingSpec because they are the only company that makes cheap PATA SSDs. Dropping a KingSpec 32GB PATA SSD into an old Pentium II laptop is nothing short of amazing. You can get KingSpec drives from U.S. sellers so they're not really that odd.

Long time ago I was looking for an SSD for my laptop that used IDE. Kingspec had both SLC and MLC versions at 16/32/64GB size ranging from $60-$200. Obviously the SLC version was either 2x more expensive or half as much in size. At the time I read that initial SSD's had studer issues, so I never bought one. anyways this was back in 2007/2008 i think.

I bought P3-512gb version for about 80$ (branded same capacity ssd price's were from 140$ in my local stores back then) and it increased my laptop boot times from 5 mins to 20-30secs. had it for 1 year and had no problems with it. Today its not worth getting an unbranded drive and risk your data, but back then it was worth trying since it was 2x cheaper.

You know, it’s all well and good for Linus to bash everything out there that doesn’t run at bleeding edge speeds, but personally I’ve had a few kingspec drives that have performed flawlessly for everyday tasks and beaten the crap out of the mechanical drives they replaced. I realize this was a while ago when there was a larger price difference, but also kingspec supported older interface options that the big players didn’t. So maybe not so quick to judge.

I've seen this type of thing before and my favorite computer online retailer Newegg has added Chinese imported products to save a few bucks and add to their inventory. To be safe I tried to cancel a hard drive case from china because I had no idea this was going on, similar to multiple sellers on amazon.
Simple answer from a less than average IQ guy that likes computers: DO NOT buy electronics from China. You can pick countries from Newegg on the last couple of options on the left option pane. Also I would advise to pick the seller as just Newegg if possible. This option can also be selected from the left option pane.
Also DO NOT go to an Asian Massage Parlor and do anything other than a therapeutic massage, otherwise you may have children running around that you never knew about.

I bought at least 20 of those in the past 5 years. 16gb,32gb and 64gb. They are not as fast as drives that are 4X more expensive but they are pretty fast compared to regular hard drives. You can drop them from 6+ feets high and they won't break or show any errors when you test them.

The brand does NOT imply reliability. I had an INTEL 160GB G3 SSD drive self-destruct on me due to a firmware bug. Sure Intel replaced it. Samsung also previously had problems with their "Enterprise-class" SSDs before too due to random data loss causing server crashes. Best quote I ever heard: "If it's got +i+s or tech, it's gonna give you PROBLEMS!"

*Very useful video.* Might the most useful Linus video so far.
He is right about the price and speed. It's not the thing that the hard drive has to do in the long term.
He is right that the data on our devices is probably the most valuable thing in the long term.
Like photo memories or letters or the projects we work on for hours and days.
More secure and high quality hard drives are better for this reason.
The fast hard drive is not attractive if it breaks every year or so. Price is also not above the quality of the hard drive. It's like a magic balance, where people expect high quality for low price.

Numbers got poor little consumer like me bit disoriented, but guess cheaper ssd can have good use for someone who doesn't need more (people tend to pay 10 % extra for 50 % extra speed, even when it would never come to any use (i know i tend to sometimes, when not careful, but feel bit sucumbe if i give in, may be i am crazy) . Ps come to think of it, got ssd from different china brand (working good enough for me so far, to say the least), but using usb sticks for ready boost of this brand, they work pretty good up to now (little to compare with here, i must admit). Post yes/no, hope you don't mind i did, (BWOUHAHAHAHAAAAA).
Ps Yoko walkmans had a bad name here, waay back, some things never change, oh oeh oh oh.

and I noticed that whenever I'm streaming over chrome + manycam for my webcam, FiveM (GTAV) really tanks in terms of loading speeds, and I drop through the ground etc -- could it be overloading seeing as these cheaper ssd's don't have that inbuilt processor or w/e?
seems super consumer relevant too, as streaming gaming's becoming a biiiig thing, and welp my 240gig kingspec really doesn't like it apparently

All you caught them out on was small data packet writing, and is this legit? I hear the 1TB model use MK8215 controller.
You go on about how DRAM-less drives are bad, but you compare it to a DRAM-less corsair model AND its reused from your video What are DRAM-less SSD's.
You've called the hard drive "bad" and "cheap quality" by generalising with it being a DRAM-less drive rather than a Kingspec specific "fault". 3 year warranty on these?
I also hear you are either in Shenzhen (where Kingspec is) or often there, and you're married to an Asian? Hmmm... Maybe recieved a payout to try and eliminate Kingspec drives from the competition?

And while that was for the most part true, Compaq is no longer and both Acer and Lenovo sell and offer more laptop models than Toshiba!
We may laugh and avoid Kingspec SSDs now, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're still around a decade from now while other reputable SSD brands go out of business or offer inferior products!!...

I've got two of those ssd s. I only use it in my old laptops, witch are allowed to break down and aren't fast anyway. They are a great upgrade and do the job. A expensive ssd isn't worth it, expensive ssd sit in my good quality pc and laptop. And data should never be stored on any device that isn't backed up. My data is centralized in a server, so no risk there.
And the price of these cheap ssd s was less than half of a quality brand, and free shipping.
