"We've got a problem, we're not the only ones in Montgomery who don't bellong in here". Great point there. I thought that tracking the Artron energy was a really good clue, but well finding a suitcase stuffed with weird future tech is probably a much better hint about another time traveller. I mean yea, it confirms, what she thought might be the case with the Artron energy (it could be anything, just an anomaly for example), but it's the way she handed it to the gang. XD

    Space nazi.
Has a weapon of incredibly limited ammo, shoots 5-6 “warning shots” into the edges an empty warehouse then decides to play “let’s threaten the group of people using one of the most advanced time travel devices ever created, to travel to a point in history that’s clearly well documented”, by the way he doesn’t know what an active scan is despite being from a future with clearly sophisticated surveillance devices (as found in the suitcase).
The writing in this series was utter junk.

  • IMMentat
    IMMentat Month ago +1

Goes back to meet Rosa parks, episode ends up as a battle of wits with Dr who via a future space-Nazi who got chipped like spike in the later buffy series. (i.e. 5-10 minutes counting people on a bus while agonising pointlessly).
Neat idea terribly written and executed.

  • VeinAST

Pointless antagonist. The story of Rosa is brilliant but Doctor Who isn’t a costume drama. It’s sci fi comedy fantasy. Get rid of Chibnall, we need some drive back into the episodes! Kerblam! was easily the best episode of the series.

    • IMMentat
      IMMentat Month ago

The script never allowed for the doctor to be her own person. That’s why she got 4 companions the second she turned up.
The BBC can’t spell “think” anymore without forcing a group into it.
No risks, few interesting events(the frog room, Punjab and the calm bit with Rosa), weak villains, constant value judgements about each guest/monster-of-the-week and a doctor who was scatterbrained/an-observer wielding a constant convenience rather than one who assessed, planned then performed in a way that followed an plan that unwraps like a gift to the audience.

First ever exposure to the newest Doctor. (Still sad she isn't ginger.) Hm. She's definitely a more soft spoken Doctor than I'm use to. Nothing one can't get use to. Loved the reference to the time travel method of choice used by River Song and Captain Jack. Overall, my biggest complaint I think was in the number of companions. A scene like this would have been so much snappier with a nice back and forth between 10 and Donna, or 11/12 and Clara.

I found this episode really cynical. This guy comes from thousands of years in the future where racism is apparently still a problem. How depressing.

    • IMMentat
      IMMentat Month ago

obbly the more people focus on the arbitrary differences the less they appreciate the benefits of working together.
Especially when it’s constant calls to “original sin” (told from one side of course) rather than in the virtues of the current innocents

The best thing about this series were the cinematographers.

  • GusMcGuire
    GusMcGuire Month ago

The problem with Krasco was that he was totally extraneous to the plot, presumably shoehorned in just to give it a sci-fi element. The story could have simply been that the Doctor is already part of history but just doesn't realise it yet (which is how it plays out anyway). I kept thinking Krasco would appear in a later story and become part of an ongoing arc but he didn't, which makes him (and the 'Trump' character from Arachnids) completely redundant. Hopefully they'll write better supporting characters for the next season because the writing this season veered between genuinely thought-provoking and "what the hell was that?"

While Space Greaser Racist is one of the worst villains I have to say Jodie does really well in scenes like this where she's challenging the villains 1x1 but this episode would've been so much better had it been The Monk.

@Adam Darren Wrong. The "eye-rolls" are from the ridiculousness of it all. The only people keeping racism alive today are people like the writers of this drivel.
And Daleks are NOT racists. They are equal opportunity killers and don't care what race you are. They've even killed each other.

    • Adam Darren
      Adam Darren Month ago +6

The eye rolls are because it is so 'on the nose'. The beauty of proper science-fiction is that we can create analogies, parallels, parodies, etc. that we can compare them with our own societies, such as the Daleks you mentioned. When you make it 'on the nose' it becomes a lecture rather than letting people draw their own conclusions from their own real-life experiences.

  • Adam Darren

No balance was shown that any of the white townsfolk were also opposed to the prejudice that was going on. Plus story would have had a lot more belt to it if the time agent guy was masked throughout and up to the point where he comes toe to toe with Ryan before being sent back in time, the villain in his scuffle is unmasked in the last second to reveal that he too is black. C’mon writers, add layers, tension and mystery to the story telling, it’s not that hard!

@isaac woodward I did watch it. I've reached today the 12th season.
Did I enjoy it? I am totally disappointed!!! Jodie is a great actor, she isn't the problem. I accuse the director of the movie. They evolved too much politics in the TV Show, through there choice of companions & there roles, through the episodes, the values...etc. In fact they did start it by including Bill the represent the LGBTQ+ Community as a test if it will offend the fans, but at least they didn't ruin the show with political ideology. This new season has nothing funny or philosophical. They're like making bonus episodes which has no link with the main story

Y’know, looking back on it, Series 11 wasn’t as bad as I first thought...I mean, sure, the whole “PC insanity” thing is still a thing, but really, the episodes themselves aren’t bad...just a bit threadbare...the acting is good, the storylines are decent, it’s just that there could have been so much more. So much more. In a way, I guess I’m saying “here’s to Series 12: let’s thread the needle through.”

That guy bragged about how he has killed 2000 people. The Doctor could calculate several thousand calculations in a bilionth of a second and even he/she has stopped counting how many she has killed. And she wasn't proud of it. And this Krasko guy threaten her. Hahahaha, so funny.

  • Politely Nefarious

Auugh. The bad scripting/direction in this series kills me. Poor Jodie and crew, trying their darndest to act around it. You can see them working.

It's not even a *bad* antagonist concept. Generic but not terrible. So many of these characters could be brilliant, even one series ago. It's all the writing. The utter lack of depth and development. Any real conflict between the Doctor and her companions. The sheer amount of time devoted to characters other than them. Makes me want to tear my hair out by the follicle.
