I’m so glad I was in this era, really Minecraft changed my feeling on gaming and storytelling, can’t believe this was so long ago.

There is something so cool about seeing one of the games you grew up with evolve in such a cool way. Minecraft has had so much love put into it by both the developers and the players, and I truly hope it’s one of those games that never dies

I remember essentially playing on 1.7 and 1.8 when I first found the game and got it.

this was the arguably the biggest update in Minecraft's history, adding hunger, villages and loads of things we still use today

Traveling in the overworld kind of breaks the core progression and meta of the game though. When are we getting a caves update? That would really help the people who want to actually play the game. I mean, at least give us horses or something if you insist on making us go out in the sunlight.

This is probably the version of Minecraft I’ve played the most, combat’s still great, most mini-game servers still allow it, you don’t need a beefy PC to run it.
The absolute best version of the game for me.

I miss the old days when minecraft launched this trailer I watched it as soon as it came out

Add a new ore
Add a way to detect block places into Redstone
Update the nether and add some kind of villagers in the nether

Ima make a quick summarize:
0:36 changed terrain generator (added extreme hills, removed shrublands, savanna, tundra, cold taiga, rain & seasonal forests, added oceans, Biomes are now vaster) and changed the grass & leaves colormap
0:38 Added villages
0:40 Added rivers between biomes
0:42 Added ravines
0:43 Added sprint, tall grass and grass now generate in plains and forests more frequently (only generated in rain forest and plains until now)
0:45 Added lava/water lakes
0:46 changed combat mechanics and animations (you could hold to attack, now its click to attack and fixed the punching animation* to be the same animation as breaking blocks. Overall much faster punching/breaking animations) and added food bar
0:48 Added critical hits and xp orbs, cow now drops raw beef
0:50 Added bow charge
0:52 Added sprint-knockback attacks (will be nerfed in 1.0 and 1.9), zombies now drop rotten flesh (dropped feathers until now)
0:53 Added melon, stone bricks, fence gate, ..., Changed some block texture (planks, ....)
0:55 Reintroduced creative mode (was removed in Indev 0.31)
0:56 Added Poison effect, cave spider and mineshafts
0:57 Added Steak, using the old cooked porkchop texture, and changed the cooked porkchop texture. Foods now takes time to consume and no longer regenerate health directly (potions were added shortly after in 1.0), added eating animation
0:59 Skeletons now hold bow realistically (held it like an item until now)

*Punching animations were buggy since 0.24 SURVIVAL_TEST: when punching air, the animations would stop when your item return to the position held, making the animation slow; when punching blocks/ entity, the punch animation would reset every hit, making a weird ultra-fast punching animation. For more info check some alpha let's play.
Extra additions: Lighting changes (smooth lighting added), Brightness, Sword blocking, silverfish and strongholds.
Note: This update is the first release of the Adventure Update, and is the last beta development version. It is the transition between the survival development version (starting from Indev) and the Release of Minecraft. After beta 1.8, 1.0.0 will be released as the second release of Adventure Update and the first Release of Minecraft, introducing an end game mechanic (the Nether Fortress, Eyes of Ender, The End portal room and the Ender Dragon Bossfight)

Tbh i look forward to 1.9 with the deep dark cities. But thats sinds the nether update probebly the best best in a while. And i feel like 1.7 & 1.8 where just buildup for 1.9. It makes those updates kinda boring in my eyes. Ofcours it changes the game but there are no new objectives to reach. Just more space to build and "more realistic" word generation. To me those functionality updates are not exiting, but the updates that create a richer story and more challenging objective, they are exiting.
