      Hi Barry, the consommé works by using the egg white to drag all of the impurities to the top and traps them inside the egg as it sets. which allows the soup to be clear.

      You could open up your own Clear Kitchen, where you serve intriguing clear foods to the public. Perhaps the entire dining area would be furnished based on the idea, with a sparkling clean shiny setting, clear seats, tables, and glass china as well.

      Not sure if you'll see this, BUT if you wanted something with a bit more "body" you could try using a food thickener to go with it.

    Love this soup video. Made it and froze it in ice cube molds for bloody mary drinks. Works wonders for hangovers in place of V8 and serves a dual purpose of pranking lazy roommates who forget to refill the ice. Made my day watching my buddy run from his room to spit Pepsi and Tomato soup ice into the sink.

    The experience of good food is all about taste, texture (touch), smell, sight (color), and sound... what little sound the soup might make through interaction with the spoon. Removing one of the senses is a simple gimmick, and does nothing to enhance an experience.

    When I think of tomato soup the color isn't the first thing that comes to mind, it's the dreadful memories of my school days.. aaah yes it's tomato soup day! that's nice... one luke-warm bowl of tomato soup no spices and no salt and a single piece of lightly buttered bread "not real butter of course" one tiny side of poorly cooked vegetables and a most likely soured carton chocolate milk.
    it was great, really it was. your the greatest lunch ladies and this school board surely knows what it is doing when it comes to food. yea. right. actually it kind've pissed me off, those bad lunches got me detention more times than I can count! IM NOT GOING TO BE STUCK SOMEWHERE FOR 8 HORRIFYING HOURS A DAY JUST TO FED PIG SLOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    A consomé is the only thing I know how to cook lol I can't make a tomato soup, it doesn't turn bright red like I want it, so I always make consomés

    Depending on the actual end product :- its an easy way to get young kids to eat vegetables ( or at least get the benefit of eating veg) . Combine this with the Japanese water cake and your mission is complete ( ill take 10% thanks very much ;) )

    no thanks on the gadget, I'v learned to use a knife. These knife things, they can cut anything, and everything without fail. Once you get good with one of those knife gadgets, you can cop things even faster than the gadgets can. Cheffin man.

    That slight yellow tinge was probably from when you fried the veggies, you even said about colouring them in the video but you're supposed to sweat them really gently for a long time so they soften but don't colour but even so the end result was very impressive for a first attempt. You can go one step further too, once you've strained through the kitchen paper you get hold of some very fine muslin, line the sieve with 2 or 3 layers of the muslin, put the sieve over the bowl, put the bowl in the fridge then pour in the liquid and leave it in the fridge overnight to filter. It will probably take 24 hours to filter fully but assuming you didn't brown the veggies the results will look like water.

    11:20 vodka is distilled, not just filtered... Egg white absorbs a lot of colour and flavor, which is why you needed so much tomato.
