  • Save your money, don't buy expensive meringue powder anymore.
    This recipe uses real egg whites. This recipe is perfect for making flowers ahead of time for wedding cakes, because royal icing dries hard and the decorations can be stored for weeks. Make cute little decorations for cupcakes. First ice cupcakes with buttercream then add your decorations made ahead of time with this royal icing recipe. ALSO perfect for putting together, decorating and gluing gum drops and candy canes to GingerBread houses.
    1 egg white
    1/4 tsp almond extract or clear flavoring
    1/4 tsp cream of tartar
    1 and 1/2 cups powdered sugar
    makes 1 cup royal icing
