It's been reported that it costs $10k more than to build one than GM sells one for.

    It’s a P-51 Mustang, not a P-38 Mustang. The P-38 was a twin tail boom WWII Fighter/Attack platform.

It's an attractive car but it'll never match the likes of the NSX or Italian sports cars.

    Mr. Leno and team,
I have to give you all a big thank you! Although, I may never be able to own any of the cars you feature due to making the hard sacrifices (lol....okay, not owning one of the incredible cars on your show to put my kids first as much as I can is not a “hard sacrifice”) allows me to live vicariously through you and your teams video’s . It makes me feel like I am almost part of the show and that I own the car for myself. Again, thank you all for the great work. New fan / subscriber.

Optioned how I would want it with all the cool exterior bits is $74K that's Z51 with the mag suspension and the high spoiler, trident wheels. carbon fiber ground effects Elkhart Blue, with fender hashes and the racing stripes.

Brilliant move by Corvette. My 40 Something age group now has an american car to be excited about, right when we can drop some coin on a car for fun. Perfect car and timing for the Gen X'r that outgrew silly Honda Civic's but cant afford a Ferrari or Lambo.

Juan Macias you still can man, and right now it’s the best time to buy a 2019 model, because they are dropping the prices beetween 10 and 12 grand for the c7 models

The dealership gouging sh*t needs to stop. I wish the Big 3 motherships would step in and stop the stealerships from marking up cars. I would pay MSRP for this Vette...but not an additional $5000 or more just because the stealerships think they can get away with that. I truly wish Tesla's sales model becomes the standard and you can buy direct from the mothership and dealerships become used car lots and service centers only.

I'm a lifelong mustang fan...but I really like this version of the Vette. Well done Chevy!!

  • 246spyder
    246spyder Day ago

There is no way that gm is making any money on a 60k Vette. That's saying that it is a 48k dealer cost. That is with no options, base car. They will make it hard to get, dealers will add a lot of 15% mark up options on their floorplan cars, their bread and butter cars. I would love to see the Monroney sticker (MSRP) on a base-model vs dealer markup.

Hey Jay, tell us about how the power is limited because it's a pre-production model :)

  • Vignesh Bhaskaran

I don’t know why I dismissed this car. Maybe with the looks from the front or maybe because I just assumed it would cost an astronomical amount more than the c7. Haven’t been more wrong about a product in a long time

This is the most enjoyable car review I’ve seen in some time. I’m surprised at how relaxed the company man and Jay are with each other, it really makes this quite wonderful. I don’t feel like we’re just being fed horse-hockey here, and he’s been very frank and clear about where past shortfalls were on the platform.

So the convertible has more headroom then the coupe? Because thats my only complaint about my 2019 C7 Stingray, is headroom.
PS: It looks like it has so much headroom. I think Jay is like 6 foot plus tall. So they sold me on headroom. Im going to trade mine in on this because of headroom. Seriously. Thats my only thing i hate on mine, is headroom sucks. So it looks like they heard people complain about it also and fixed it. ✌️

I have just one question ... it's a question I've asked the people that should have the answer, before on other cars, but sadly they did not know. As a pilot I accept wind speed as a normal part of every day operation. Mentioned in this video, the top can be exercised as long as the car is not exceeding 30 mph. Has Chevrolet factored in any amount of a headwind when arriving at this number ? ( example .. if I'm driving 30 mph while also facing into a headwind of 30 mph, the wind force on the top would be 60 mph. ) I really want to know, have the engineers taken this into account ? ( maybe stating 30 mph even though they know it's good for say 70 mph, or is there a comment in owners manual warning not to use in strong winds etc.. ) When my convertible is delivered I will do the top while stopped .. it's just how I am .. but would love to know just the same. Would be great if the people at Corvette could be asked and their answer posted here. Thanks Jay

$60,000 is pretty false. If you want any of the niceties, like the front end lift, you’ll have to sprung for the LT3 for $80,000. They don’t even offer these options on the LT1

Cool car, love the engineering as represented by Tadge, but the ordering process seems archaic. I want to put in an order and I'm directed to put in my contact info and a dealer will be in contact with me and the price "may vary"... what is this? We're ordering like it's 1999?

Tadge has done what Zorra Duntov couldn't make happen. Other builders haven't paid the dues to build this good a Super Car. Prices will fall. No one has ever taken 60 years to develop a Car. Demand will raise the price of this car but other exotic car companys will die due to their greed! My Grand Dad was an engine machanic for Chevy before the Cherollet Brothers were gobbled up by GM and he would have been so proud of what Corvette has finally done. A workingman's Super Car!

Remember when the 1989 ZR-1 came out and it cost $60,000?

    • James Carson
      James Carson Day ago

@Ken Cole - Yes that would be about $115,000 today, about what the 2019 ZR-1 goes for. The 1990-95 ZR-1's were game changers in their time, an engineering triumph, but a sales failure. You shelled out $30,000 on top of the $32,000 base price and got a very different C4 that didn't look very different from the base model. Still, with 375 HP, the Lotus designed, Mercury Marine built 32 valve all aluminum DOHC 5.7 liter LT-5 engine had the most horsepower you could buy domestically back then.
