I had a very positive birth experience and hopefully this will calm the nerves of some of you looking into being induced! I'll take you through the day from when we left home, what my contractions were like, upping the dose of pitocin, breaking my water, and how our first night in the hospital went. Enjoy!
Also! Follow me on IG! I have a story saved with really innovative baby products I’ve found, a story for bump dates, and a story for newborn life/postpartum!

I’m getting induced in 3 weeks and I’m glad you told them no about breaking your water. This will be my first child and I’m so nervous and gives me hope to go without medication or epidural.

    • Shannon VanFleet
Shannon VanFleet  17 days ago +1

Javias Chante’ your water is your cushion so once that is broken it does become very painful. Aside from that, it puts more stress on your baby. So if you are able to progress (dilate) with medication alone, then do that for as long as possible until progress stalls and then break your water. Also, once your water is broken it opens the door to infection and it becomes a race against time because after 24 hours of broken water they will usually take you to csection

    • Crystal Zamudio
      Crystal Zamudio 17 days ago

If you get your water broken it intensifies the pain soon especially if you’re not dilated from what I’ve gathered.

I LOVE that you said no to them breaking your water. “ I’ve got a life and things to do” what the heck! Our bodies were made to do this. You go girl. Even if you do take a “long time” what’s wrong with that? Let your body do what it’s supposed to. Rant over. Overall good job!

I’m going to be induced 11/26. I didn’t know I can tell them not to break my water. I am scared of that because I don’t want an epidural. This is a beautiful video, hope for a fast and safe delivery as well 🙏🏼 I was amazed how you dilated so much in one hour! 🙏🏼

Shannon VanFleet Update: I ended up having a c section. I gave it my all, reaches 10 cm and pushed for 2 hours without medication and it wore me out so much I had to ask for some medicine. After receiving it, I pushed for another 2 and half hrs and baby was not coming out, in between contractions he just kept going back up, until my doctor told me it was time for a c section. I did felt devastated, I wanted to void meds and surgery, but my baby was safe delivered on 11/26 at 10:29 pm 9 lbs 2 oz. I thought I had everything until he came 😭🙏🏼💙

I agree they are in such a hurry to break your water prematurely! The water cushions the baby during contractions. I learned a few years back that when the water isn’t there all the contractions are squeezing on the biggest part of the baby - head. Instead of equalizing around the baby to push him out.

I’m 40 weeks and my cervix back closed from 1cm. They’re going to induce in a week and it’s not what I hoped for. I’m praying that I can still aim for an unmediated birth but I anticipate induction being long and rough. I’m so glad to know you were induced and made it thru! Gives me hope.

    • C Sturgis
      C Sturgis 2 months ago +1

Rhoda Asante absolutely. Next time, if I go over I am going to stay pregnant as long as they will allow to hope my body progresses more. I know many have positive induction stories but my experience was definitely due to my
      Body simply not being ready

    • Rhoda Asante
      Rhoda Asante 2 months ago

@C Sturgis oh wow, and you predicted labor would be "long and rough" I'm glad it's all over now. Do you wish you gave your body another week?

    • C Sturgis
      C Sturgis 2 months ago +1

Rhoda Asante induction was terrible. 12 hours with cooks catheter gave me contractions every 10 min (no sleep even with ambien). Pitocin started at 6am and water broke naturally at 8am. By 11:30 contractions we’re so close and so hard and I was only 4cm so I had to get an epidural. Baby girl came at 8:40pm after 70 minutes of pushing 😪

Yeah this is NOT always the case. I was induced with my first and they broke my water and it was too early. I was in labor for 24 hours with her. She did not just come out lol. I'm due very shortly with my second hopefully not needing to be induced but if I am they will NOT be breaking my water. Itll be breaking on its own

    • razzle channel
      razzle channel 8 months ago

@Shannon VanFleet oh wow I kinda wish I felt more but I think my adrenaline kicked in and I didn't feel anything I didn't even know I had torn. I had to get induced as well because i was just staying at a 8 for a while and my water still didn't break. I was hoping it would break but it didn't. But my experience was good. Just the breastfeeding thing I feel is hard at times. I'm still getting used to it but yes you did awesome:) women are the bomb!

It's so nice to see other moms being induced and not getting the epidural! I was induced and I was in labor forever (33 hours) and so happy I did it naturally...I think it helped so much with pushing and getting up afterwards. Next time I'm going to do what you did and tell them not to break my water...because it didn't do anything lol

    • 83prettyblack
      83prettyblack 2 months ago

That's why I'm here because I want to know more about induction with actually no pain meds ,which in my opinion is still natural because some of us just dont go in on our own and we can't help it.

    • A1
      A1 3 months ago

It doesn’t make a difference if you have pain meds or not, I had an epidural which they turned off just before the birth and pushed for about 15 mins and the baby came out.
