Thesaurus.com is free. I don’t see why you can’t find a different adjective to describe someone.

I’m not racist and I never mean to offend anyone it’s never my intention. Just my personal opinion I believe it’s just a song and nothing to it you know!!!!! Like music has different moods and if it’s a fun goofy great song why bring the mood down if the song was serious and telling a story of like traumatic experiences and so forth I get it don’t say it.

Honesty I agree with Loni if people don’t want others to use the word then don’t. Like Loni said people are making money from it! What do you expect for others who listen to the music. I get it I know the word has a lot of history to it but come on don’t like people saying it don’t use it as often or just stop it. Point Blank Period!!!!!!!!!

No one should use this word. It’s like saying you can sin but I can’t. If the artist knows he has many multi colored fans that don’t use that word.

In my experience being Mexican and hearing Mexicans saying the N word when Mexicans say the N word they don't use it thinking of black ppl. It's just a word to refer to each other. It's been so popularized that it's just another slang word to call each other now. But we don't say it to black ppl because we know that it takes on a whole different context. But when we say it to each other it's like us saying guey which means foo.

Going by Loni's argument a teacher watches a movie or documentary about racism with blackface and decide to wear blackface to school because they think it looks cool. This becomes a national issue and they talk about it on the show. Loni will be backing/supporting the white teacher correct? They did nothing wrong AT ALL!? Afterall it was in a movie so they shouldn't have shown it if they didn't want people to imitate it.
Knowing how two face she's shown herself to be here I don't know.

  • Nwabisa Samkelisiwe Radebe

So once again black people are held responsible for the actions of their oppressors? Black people should choose whether they want to use the word or not. Not be told to stop using it themselves. Why must African Americans regulate themselves so other races can act right? It's really not that hard to not say ONE word for an adult who has an average vocabulary of 10,000.

Whitey has promoted self destructive lifestyles among black folks since the beginning by funding gangster rap through their control of music studios and and other media outlets. They have made celebrating pimping, drug dealing, gang banging and shallow materialism the way to destroy black folks instead putting on white hoods and burning crosses. But hey anything to make a buck right?

It’s pretty ridiculous that I’m just singing along to a song and I get ridiculed. My boyfriend is black and he doesn’t understand the problem either. I honestly think that if they don’t want people to sing along then stop making music.

The N word isn’t a cultural thing and if it is that all Black ppl are racist within each other because they calling each other the N word every day just to refer to another person if they don’t want nobody saying the word than it’s come first from the Culture Black culture needs to stop saying the N word so nobody says it why you think nobody uses the racist word towards spanish ppl because we have respect within our culture not to call each other that so we Won’t allow nobody disrespect us Black ppl need to look within there culture before they start speaking about anyone else

I’m with Amanda and Adrienne. Sorry not sorry. And Hard LOL at Loni for proving Amanda’s point with the Michael Jackson reference. She really thought she had that one. Why is it in order to explain the nuances about Black issues, people don’t get it until we provide examples of the Jewish experience that is the same? This is getting old.

  • Hannah Sharitz

I agree with Loni take it out of music. None of the modern day rappers know what it’s like to be a black person when it was used

By claiming that black people shouldn't use a reclaimed slur in part of expressing their experience and identity in their music, rather than simply non-black people leaving it out while singing along, it takes away the responsibility for non-black people to think for themselves and take accountability for the actions they choose to take and puts the responsibility for what they do and don't do on black people.
Maybe other non-black people could grow up, hold themselves responsible for what they do in life, instead of forcing people to cater to their unwillingness to be mindful in their choices.
~ From a white person who has zero trouble leaving out the N word when singing along to music (it's not really not hard, therefore people just don't care, and that's the problem).

At the end of the day. When black people choose to use the word and put it in their songs that white people also listen to and buy, they need to accept the fact that this will be continuously controversial.
