Weekend overreactions: Will Liverpool go undefeated in the Premier League? | ESPN FC

  • Published on Oct 7, 2019
  • Some big results across Europe this weekend gave our pundits plenty to overreact about. ESPN FC's Mark Donaldson and Craig Burley talk Liverpool's chances of going undefeated in the Premier League, the likelihood Mauricio Pochettino and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer getting sacked at Tottenham and Manchester United, and the league title implications for Juventus and Bayern Munich as Juve see off one of their main title rivals in Inter Milan while Bayern suffered their first defeat of the season to Hoffenheim.

Well the name of segment is "Overreaction" so as a overreaction yes liverpool can go undefeated, they only had one defeat in whole season last time and they are just as good as this time around.
But then again there are lots of good teams in PL, capable of influcting damage on one of those days.

they can, when they gap city by more than 10 points they could easily go undefeated by parking the bus since their team is very versatile that even mane could defend like a world class defender... but overdefending isn't really Klopp style

Liverpool aren't looking anything like as solid in defence as last season. They're playing a very high line hoping to take advantage of the super stringent VAR off sides, but it's risky. That's why people are getting in behind them, and they're not keeping clean sheets. We'll see what happens when Alisson gets back between the sticks. Maybe that'll steady things.

Going undefeated is almost in possible, but u never know in football they miss out on cl and come back to win it the year after, last year they only lost one game who know if they come back ad turn that lost to a draw ... but like i said undefeated is almost impossible

Modern day football makes it close to impossible for any EPL team to go unbeaten. However, Liverpool may have a chance, if they can sustain a draw/ victory vs. both city games.

  • nimay13
    nimay13 2 months ago

Liverpool will lose one at the Etihad. They don't play particularly well at the moment. Winning? Yes. But fluidity is gone, lots of hanky panky in midfield and they'll be punished for it. Salzburg almost got them, 3 up and they let them back into the game.
Leicester should be wrapped earlier, but didn't. Luckily Mane quick thinking got them the penalty.

liverpool going undefeated is not an overreaction, we lost 1 game last season due to a goal line clearence and another 3 mm and were undefeated, not saying we will go undefeated but its definitely possible.

Liverpool going undefeated is hardly an overreaction. Liverpool lost 1 game last season, and so far is looking just as capable this season while virtually every other team is looking worse or hardly improved. Not saying it'll happen, but not really an overreaction.

Poch was cooked when he said Barca would win the champions league last season. Shows he has no will to win. You can think it, but you don't go on tv and say it. Two minds about Solskjaer - if they lose him there aren't a whole lot of options and even if there were things are so bad people might not want to go anyway. OTOH things seem to be getting worse which is very alarming even for somebody like me who doesn't like Man Utd and Liverpool have been known to cause a few manager sackings in recent years, if they play like they have been they're going to be destroyed by Liverpool, we could be talking rugby score. I was going to put 100 quid on them to get relegated at 1000/1 before the start of the season, now they're 70/1 - so wish I had two points off the drop.

    • Absolute Unit

@XebecHD he's talking about the game against Liverpool at the Etihad, not the whole end of the season, and the game did include the makeshift defence of Danilo who had barely played up until then so we had no idea what form he was in, Kompany who also hadn't played and was talked about to be a weak link in the defence for Pool to target, and Laporte at LB who some expected to be easily exposed for his lack of pace compared to Salah

    • XebecHD

City were missing KDB on the day and had a makeshift back four, wasn't the strongest City side possible
