I think around $14k is what they sold for new? I’d rebuild it as an electric car.

you are a collector of junk. the worst way to buy cars. professionals search and buy good examples for the right money. you enjoy loosing money the way you are. the only reasoning for your way is due to income from you tube showing all those junk cars being fixed.

It was ugly then, and it is ugly now... It's still a terrible car, and it's only cool because of the movies.... And that's 100% okay. Just don't say it's pretty... It's not

The stalling issue sounds like a weak fuel pump or clogged fuel lines/fuel filter to me... Makes sense. For a near 40 yr old car with only 50k it probably sat with old fuel in it and gummed up everything.

  • XXUnknown_legendXX

there’s a factory in Texas some where that still makes deloreans and they have all the parts you’ll need for it and they’re normal stock parts for a delorean because they bought out what they had when the factory shut down

Sorry to the hear the transmission isn't working. Unfortunately, buying old and rare cars from the past is an expensive hobby. That's the risk you take when you purchase old technology, especially used cars. So there's no way you can buy these type of cars on a cheap budget. Expect to spend a lot of money on spare parts and repairs. My thing is collecting old micro computers from the 80's, radio controlled cars, Airfix air models and scalextric sets. Already, I have spent a lot of money. That's the way it goes I'm afraid. I better make the most of it before I finally settle down lol I'm impressed with the DeLorean you brought. After all these years, it still looks amazing, futuristic and stylish.

Does it have rebuildable carburetor? Have you cleaned or replaced your fuel filter? I truly think you have a gem there. Wax that steel with high quality hard wax after any needed gentle cleaning with a Maguire's product for Stainless and don't stress over the expense... "you are young and life is long". And mark my words, many years from now you will wish you still had it, it will be worth a fortune, I will be dead and gone and you won't be sad every time you think of it if you keep it and work on it as you can and take the needed time to find good parts.

Look up the "Rule of 25." that applies to Deloreans. Maybe these days it should be the "Rule of 35."

  • Simon Burke

Three things.. power steering pump is grumbling... Carburettor is fouled up, that's why it's stalling.. finally, the transmission... Check UK and French eBay for either a rebuild kit orca refurbished trans.. won't be that expensive.. far cheaper than going to delorean themselves....
