Alright. So i have a Vengeance RGB 3000MHz CL15 16GB kit. What should i do? OC the FCLK, tighten timings, or try to OC the frequency, if that’s possible? To be honest, most of what Linus said went over my head. XD

ok maybe someone will see this - I just got some AMD ONLY MEMORY and true to form it is as far as i can tell AMD only - I got 16 gigs of the amd stuff from some chinamin guy of ebay
it got here quick put it in with the 2 4 gigs i already have not working just the amd ram perfect it seems to be very responsive , i couldnt just leave my 8 gigs out so if you go into bios and turn off interleaving both it will post and boot into windows but it will reserve 10 gigs out of range - now I was looking into amd it seems they get to 32 bits differently from intel by using 2 x 8 8 x 2 approach and intel just straight at it by 2 x 16 32 x 2 - as close as i could get to answering my question

That's without even activating the RGB modules. Once you crank the RGB up to max, and shine some case fan RGB on that RAM, you can triple your memory's speed!

What about for those who are on tight budget but with reasonable prices in the market? I mean looking from charts, It seems far more compelling to buy 3200cl16 than 3200cl14 or 3600cl16 when price difference is almost 100 euros for 16 GB's.

I want to upgrade to 2x8 3200 (Trident Z F4-3200C16D-16GTZR this is what available here)
    Can I do that?
    Or will I face issues?

    • Adnan Bin Zahir
Adnan Bin Zahir 13 days ago

@Valzzak FS thank you. And yes i checked it. this ram is listed in the qvl.
But they have an AMD version of this ram(F4-3200C16D-16GTZRX). Which isn't available in my country. But the ram that I mentioned earlier is in the Qvl. That's why I'm asking if it'll cause any issue or not.
My motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix B450-F

    • Valzzak FS
      Valzzak FS 14 days ago

You should check your motherboard QvL to see what rams they tested, then choose one from the qvl. If you buy something that is not in the manufacturer qvl list, you risk to face issues.

The problem with this bechmark is Linus didn’t tell us what GPU is he running. I’ve seen a different benchmark where with mid tier GPU, overclocking the RAM or FCLK is a waste of time because you’re most likely GPU bottleneck.

Just when I've saved the money for it I've gotten everything except the cpu . i cant event make this shit up lmao. memory, mobo, cpu waterblock, new case. but cpu out of stock EVERYWHERE or for ~$200+ over MSRP on other places or near retail price at the sketchiest of sketch websites.

I got some cheapo 3600MHz for my... 3600, and just tightened the timings to within an inch of their lives.
Went from 18-22-22-42 to 16-19-16-36. Very happy - didn't even have to up the DRAM or SoC voltage.

Dang, the UK has prices that bad for phone plans? for €21/m I could have unlimited 4G speed data. I got upgraded to it for free over the years, but as I don't need that much data I downgraded to a €14/m 10GB plan.

  • Cloud Strife
    Cloud Strife Month ago +10

I would recommend peoples to take this with a grain of salt... I am a system administrator (Windows Server Linux etc) and I've talked with some AMD engineer too via email and they told me you don't notice the difference in real life between 3200 and 3600mhz..
If you don't live in the USA (currency exhange rate) and there is a big price difference between a good kit of ram at 3200mhz and the same one at 3600mhz take the 3200mhz one... save the money buy a better Cpu/Motherboard/Gpu or a M2 etc etc and forget this story about Ram because the reviewers read that from the original AMD paper and start spreading that story everywhere etc the 1:1 ratio is respected @ 3200mhz
Ram is Ram it's so good theses days and so fast it doesn't matters at all for 99.99% of the users out there

I'm actually researching a kit by GSkill and ended up looking at two modules: F4-3200C14D-32GVK, F4-3200C14D-32GTZR, and the F4-3600C16D-32GTZN (Can't find this ANYWHERE), which will work on the Crosshair Hero VIII according to the RAM configuration tool. I was also looking at Corsair Vengeance LPX, but can't find a 32GB 3600Mhz kit that will work with my motherboard of choice.
EDIT: Found this part by Corsair CMK32GX4M2K3600C16
