I have owned Cobra, the original King Cobra Oversized Irons and woods. In fact, I still have my King Cobra 5 metal and 7 metal....and they're in my bag.
I have also owned a Callaway Big Bertha War Bird driver, and a Taylor Made Bubble Shaft Driver.

I've used both Taylormade & Titleist, prefer my M2. Previously had a Cleveland Hibore with grafalloy blue shaft which I got for nothing as a promotional gift, it Sat unwrapped for at least 6 months, but when nobody wanted it i decided to give it a go. WOW, best driver I'd had at that stage, a pleasant surprise, so glad I didn't get rid of it. I'm a sucker for change but trying to stay true to my M2.

The Cleveland launcher comp was a bazooka. That was also around the last time I touched a Cleveland product.

Thanks Rick! Based largely on your review, I recently purchased the Cleveland Launcher HB Turbo in 10.5 with the standard Miyazaki "R" shaft (although I shortened it from 45.5" to 45"). Think I fall into the category of "simple" golfers who don't want/need adjustability in my driver. From my eye it appears to sit square and has drastically cut down my left to right tendencies. I quite like both the looks & sound, and my only critique would be that Cleveland eliminate the "HiBore Crown" language from the top of the club and paint the alignment aides in a color other than black (too hard to see). I even think Cleveland did a good job with the "boxing glove" head-cover as this is the first one I've seen that has "finger holds" to help you get it off. P.S. I purchased mine off the internet for only $275 which is far better than the $500 (and up!) that most drivers are going for these days.

Caught the eye but don't know if it would replace my M2, it's set on 11.25 & that suits me. I assume this driver would come in 10.5 then 12 in my range, I've tried taking my driver back to 10.5 but didn't work, that means I'd have to go to 12°, not sure.

Callayway FT9 and Titleist 910D2 but still fighting with a slice :D

  • The Average Golfer Sway Baez

I play srixon, love the irons even tho toe to heal a little long. Love the wedges and putter actually. Been waiting for a good driver. Gonna try this. I also have the ping blue print but I couldn’t dial in the new driver It was too spinny for me.

Thanks for this review Rick! After watching it multiple times and trying out the Cleveland Turbo HB I found a slightly used model on the internet for only $275. Have only been to the range with it a couple of times so far, but I like it (especially the sound!). As someone who fights a fade/slice, the upright lie angle and slightly closed face are perfect for me (although as you pointed out, it seems to have a slightly left bias so it might not be ideal for everyone). Think I may investigate the 3W next! Thanks again.

Checked out the Cleveland yesterday and not disappointed - I've had a shedload of drivers over xx yrs, but couldn't find one that replicated/improved on the feel of my TM Burner draw bias I've kept, which comes back out when the driving goes off, only problem with the Burner, my spin rates go through roof, just under 5k. Also tested the Wilson D7, but the Cleveland No.s were better (and more consistent/better numbers than my current Cobra F9) and like you say Rick, most of (us) average golfers don't need adjustable drivers, as we never change the settings anyway. So the Cleveland (10.5 degree reg) is now in the bag and I traded the Cobra in, against it!

The original Launcher driver was the shit back in the day....a lot of guys had them. And, to be 100% honest, most golfers don’t consistently strike the ball well enough for the adjustments to have a significant effect. This driver would be good for a lot of people.

Sound? It could sound like a fart as long as it hits long and straight. I have a 7-wood I call The Clunker." it sounds like someone kicked an empty 55 gallon oil can, but it goes straight for 190 yards. I can hit it off the fairway or plow through the rough. My 2nd favorite club next to my putter

I actually still swing one of their older HiBore drivers and I absolutely love it..
I have bought a R11, a M1, a RBZ, TS1 and G400 over the last few years. And every time I'll get through a couple 18s and end up with my HiBore right back in the bag.

That being said, I am glad you posted this because I am now extremely looking forward to picking up one of these new Clevelands!

    Thanks!

I hit a Cleveland Launcher 11.5 and love that thing. It sounds just like what you were hitting, and its VERY easy to hit. Its one of those clubs if your having a bad day at the course you will at least have a safe tee shot. Or if your wanting to "bend" one around a corner its very easy to do with this club.

I still rock my M2 from 2016! I haven't hit anything (and I've tried every new and "improved" driver) better, longer or more consistent than the M2! It's ridiculous to spend $500 for a driver that I might hit 5 yards more? We're all much better off spending that on lessons!
