I saw her on the 6 train once and she sat down beside me. I became so nervous trying to formulate a quick statement about how her commentary on how the AIDS crisis of the 80s and 90s ruined art and culture(because the most talented ppl were the ppl who got laid a lot and this died of AIDS.) blew my mind. I said that to her and she said “I can’t hear you”. 😂😂😂 ....I repeated it, and she simply said thank you. I then got off the train 2 stops before I planned to so I could go out on a high note. Love her so much.

That's a bit amusing, since I believe Fran isn't too impressed with Sontag's originality.

Her hatred of President Trump is irrational. Intelligent people waited to see what he would do
and what we found is he has done nothing wrong, and his work is good to excellent. Now, his personality, his speeches, some of the stuff he says is worthy of criticism....however....the good he has done for America far outweighs his verbal flubs. After a smooth talking President who gutted America and did a horrible job, I sure the hell can stand having the opposite now. It boils down to do we want a trained actor or a prolific worker?

I really like her. However I don't understand her comment about Deneuve. Deneuve and others opinon was to wait for the courts to decide. Meaning push it until these men were held accountable by a court of law and not for this movement to be a fad. Also not for it to be used a revenge instrument.

She is against all conformists except she takes issue with the biggest conformist thing of all things- the obsession with keeping time. More people confirm to it than anything else. Also this tirade against lateness is rather banal and hardly takes any smarts or individuality. In fact it requires you to submit to a artificial construct and urgency that serves only itself. Kindness Fran, kindness. That takes assessing people and situations individually and subjectively. Maybe you can try that!

@Ryan Skelton Blatantly obvious lies that further an insane agenda isn't observation. She was an early tool of the progressive movement and was paid very well to set the groundwork for the enslavement of humanity. Good job hero worshiping someone who despised you so much she accepted checks to ensure you someday live in squalor.

Barbara Brennan I suppose after you’re done with the family thing you can pursue a career. I think Fran was saying women can’t usually do both well. There are exceptions that prove every rule.

    • Keith Nichols
      Keith Nichols 5 days ago

The idea behind letting Nazis speak has been that it will expose their nuttiness, and they will be ridiculed and rejected. However, in today's politics, it almost seems as if their nuttiness is what endears them to some folks.

Why is everyone so obsessed with what this secret transgender has to say on behalf of women? Why deceit is ok? I don't go round claiming I can speak for men, because I'm not physically a man. Did "she" even get castrated or just cross-dressing?

    • Fernstead
      Fernstead 3 months ago +1

Transgenders actually claim to be the opposite sex in the wrong body. Cross-dressers are a different thing entirely. Women who wear whatever they like and don't worry about it are just women who please themselves.

I have to agree with Fran about dogs. My beef really is the the owners. On the property where I live, dog owners let their dogs shit anywhere they want, and won't pick it up. As a result, you can't walk in the green areas, cuz there's dog shit everywhere.
