I think they had 4 different GM in Trout's first 5 years. Each one of them decided to make their mark on the team with a lame ass free agent signing. Each one worse then the last and one we are still paying for. The minor leage has gotten a lot better the last 3 years though. Our GM has been much better.

  • BrianC6234
    BrianC6234 5 months ago

I don't think Harper's tampering had anything to do with the Angels locking Trout up. The Angels were waiting for Harper and Machado to sign their deals before they talked to Trout. After that happened the Angels started talking to Trout and his agent. It sure was funny when someone in the media asked Trout about if he was signing a new contract. He said right now isn't the time for that so most of the media reported he said he won't talk about a deal during spring training or during the season. He never said either. He didn't want to talk about it to the media.

CEOs of big companies make MORE dipshit. Fucking football player. The waltons have more money than 60 percent of the country! That’s 4 people worth more than 200 million people.
Get it together. CEOs do almost nothing. Mike trout at least adds value to his organization. You’re just mad you still have to work even though you were in the nfl.

Even if I had the money I wouldn’t spend it on a baseball player! That’s just plain stupid! Money really does ruin everything! I’m a Vikings fan and we gave that loser Cousins a guaranteed contract which now has opened the door for everyone to go for it! Not only did we screw ourselves up but we also hurt the future of Football! Money is at the Root of everything that sucks! All these guys should be thanking their lucky stars that they were blessed with the ability to play a sport great! I was gonna say thank God but I didn’t want to upset anyone! Bottom line is you don’t win a World Series with an awesome hitter! Good luck Angels! Maybe you should pass Trout around the stadium so all the fans could touch him?!! Bah by

I remember when Magic Johnson signed a "lifetime" contract with the Lakers for $1MM per year... that was not so long ago and people thought that was insane. Magic signed a bad deal, and it did not take more than just a few years for everybody to figure that out. Magic continues to prove he is a horrible businessman. Media tries to paint him as a business mogul telling us he is into this and that... they don't talk about it when his investments go belly up... which most of them do.

Yeah CEOs and business owners don't GROSS as much as the athletes, but I promise you they are keeping and NETTING more annually. You forgot to mention the income and luxury tax factors.

@Freedom Driver Facts. Not to mention Brady and other athletes with relatively high contracts and make financially sound decisions are the exceptions. What you said about investing is especially true for NFL players that avg half the career span and half the median salary compared to the MLB and NBA.

@GothamDiesel yeah and shorter careers and the fact that they are still employees really costs them sooooo much of that money. Trout better do what Tom Brady is doing with TB12. Become a business owner and reap the benefits of write offs.

plus career longevity for CEO's. But you'd also have to factor in sponsorship and endorsements for athletes.

You can't blame him for picking football. He was drafted by the biggest cheapskates in sports, the A's.
