Oliver vs James May’s Ferrari - which is better?

  • Published on Sep 11, 2019
  • Oliver is one of the most beloved cars to have ever graced our television screens, and now he's back! Joining up with James May and his stunning 458 Speciale, Hammond sets out to convince four-time F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel that the little Opel is the better of the two cars. It's safe to say Seb will take some serious convincing but never say never!

I never liked the ferraris. When ever you seen one, they are always driven by a complet wanker. Who thinks that his fart smells like a bottle of vine, a person who is more boring then a german engineer.

Imagine being on shift at that shell garage that day. Knowing that Hammond, may and vettel are out there goofing around the the forecourt. I would need a change of pants.

Yep, I'll go with Hammond in Oliver and get a pint.

    A Ferrari or The Oliver.
You obviously pick the one and only Oliver.

Oliver. Family car. Memories. How it became more than its self. It became Oliver it's now an icon. It has a storie. People care about it. You posted You taught your children to drive in it. You fix it at least once a year and you love it. It has a heart it means something. You would never sell it and I am sure once you are long gone Oliver will still be apart of the family you made. Now James car is a great car but some day he will sell it. It's not a car that has become more than a car it's just a car. It doesn't have a soul and those are the cars that stand out in our mind. The ones we remember and talk about. The ones that truly make us feel something. Oliver is the better car for a daily drive or the one you just want to go out to the garage and give a nice polish too. It's the one that will bring people together and share in life. James Mays car is just for him and that's special but it isn't family and Oliver has become that. It's a memory it's a Legend. There are many sports cars there's only one Oliver.

100% Oliver, That car has a history and a soul. The Ferrari is beautiful but it lack soul and character.

IMO It won't be a big surprise when an F1 driver uses a supercar for its intended purpose.. What would be a genuine surprise is to see what happens if he gets behind the wheel of your everyday, dreary econobox and drives it like his world champion title depended on it,, much like when Niki Lauda RIP drove that crappy old Alfa in that movie.. now THAT'S something to to tell your grandkids..

you can go out and buy a Ferrari any time but not a lot of people can say they drove there car across Africa and still be able to take it home. Thats why imo Oliver is the better vehicle because it has a story an it has character.

Anything, *literally A N Y T H I N G with any of the trio in it,* be it one two or all three of them, instantaneously gets a like from me. *Hell, might even start logging into my other gmail account, just to like it TWICE!* 👍🏼❤️❤️

Never liked top gear when I found it on Netflix when I was like sixteen (I’m Canadian btw) but now, three years later, after a whole lot of maturing I love any and everything top gear/GT related.
Also really upset with myself that I didn’t get into top gear whilst it was on Canadian Netflix, oh well, hopefully it shall return!!
    [one day hopefully!!...]
Mind you I wasn’t into cars three years ago, either. Still not a huge ‘petrol head’ but I do enjoy and understand the whole thing.
It’s one of those coveted, “gotta grow up a little more to understand” things, for me that is anyways.

By the time that Ferrari is as old as the Opel it won't have even done as many miles as that Opel has done in a 2 years of it's life but it will have been in for 40 times as many services.

Sorry, Oliver won. Anybody can have a car. It is what the car has been through that makes the car special. Oliver was on of the first cars to cross the salt flats, and yes Ferrari has a stories history but what has THAT car specifically done that is special?
