I'm just wondering but is the battle mechanic in this game more difficult than the other fire emblem games? cause like awakening was really hard but it got easier with birthrights when they introduced the casual mechanic and then echoes was a bit different, but I was wondering if this is on awakening level difficulty or birthrights level difficulty?

Never played either of those but this game is not hard. I'm being serious. If you have 4 enemies (the same level as you) in front of you and you only have 2 players, what do you do? If the answer is: I'll probably look for an opening or I'll retreat or I'll let them come to me and then pick them off doing something strategic... congratulations, you can play this game! The most "difficult" aspect might be keeping your whole party similarly leveled, just that.

I played that game one time and i can tell now...this is for me one of the worst fire emblem games ive seen....the point is: when i want to play a life sim, i play a life sim. in a action based stretagty game this kinda aspect slows the game so hard down, that you will never play that repetetive aspect again. The speedruns of that game will be awful...

Fire emblem three houses can be summed up with having extremely boring/forgettable characters. But if you want a little more info it has a story that is impossible to follow or care about eventually you’ll just start thumbing through all the cut scenes mashing “A” as if you were in a Pokémon battle. And you’ll be battling on the same 3 reused maps 30+ times. The hub world is pretty much empty and all of the quests are fetch quests. It’s kind of like persona minus everything that makes that series interesting or fun (meaning the story/characters suck, and the “dating sims” is really shallow.). Would highly recommend skipping this one and playing a different tactical rpg instead.

I've enjoyed the game so far. I will say it is pretty lack luster, the combat is very easy, i kind of winged my training for all my characters and quickly became extremely OP. It gets pretty redundant but still fun none the less. If you're looking for a Fire Emblem on Crack, with super hyped up combat, and nutty story line then try the Diagaea series; I can't think of anything that Fire Emblem does better than Diagaea. Both are worth playing tho.

I didn't knew the game was hard, I never had problems with the difficulty at all (normal, classic). I don't know if it's because of my previous fire emblem experience or the game isn't really that hard.

This game is very forgiving in combat. It's a bit of a spoiler, but you'll eventually have something that allows you to rewind turns without any real repercussions. This is definitely not my preferred type of game/combat system, but I'm 80 hours in (working on second playthrough), and I cannot get enough. I'd definitely recommend giving it a try. If you don't like it, then I'm sure you can find someone to buy it from you!

Am I the only one who would rather have seen the setting be an existing FE world?
Also, I kind of prefer the child system from Fates/Awakening over being a school teacher.
    Just my two cents.

Is Fire Emblem a series where knowledge of past games is important, or a stand alone experience like Final Fantasy?

    • Taylor Cranmer
      Taylor Cranmer 28 days ago

I had never played a Fire Emblem game previous to playing Three Houses, and I don't think it hindered me. It does a good job of teaching you how to play, and it's not really all that hard. As far as I know, this is a standalone experience.

I actually watched this video before playing but my brother ended up purchasing the game and I actually play it more than he does lol. Needless to say, I really enjoy it! I love how you can cultivate relationships with the different students in your class and in other classes. I enjoy how you can kind of teach your students and help them focus to get stronger in certain areas over others because it makes you feel as though you are rewarded for it once you get to play on the battlefield by way of seeing your students defeat the bandits and monsters. I will say though that the system for teaching was a little bit difficult to understand so it took me a while to get the hang of it as well as the class system, and that kind of was a disadvantage because I found myself progressing through the story not really knowing what I was doing, so I found that at certain points some of my students were extremely lacking in certain areas or just simply taking a longer time to level up than other students in the beginning chapters. But it becomes a lot more fun when you finally get the hang of the lecture system. I also found it beneficial to try to battle as often as you can during non-story related mission/quests because when it comes time to actually do some sort missions, if you haven't leveled up enough then you'll be defeated in like 2 turns. But I really love how much content is in this game. I have almost 30 hours racked up for this game and I'm still on part 1 lol. Everything feels important, even the side missions and small seemingly unimportant quests. Definitely would recommend this game!

@Blackjack y Mujersuelas In my opinion I don't really think so. I love the game because of how realistic and deep a lot of the characters are and the story is really interesting. They put a lot of effort into the game, unlike Awakening

Patrick Hasselbeck 2 months ago +1

it's a fun game. I've been around the fire emblem series since the GBA era and the core mechanics are mostly unchanged.

new systems like Gambit and Dismount actually serve to deepen how you strategize a battle, and the multiple paths you can take in three houses make it highly replayable

Personally, I give it a 9/10 and the game only loses a point because of how much the early game drags, and even if you make a save right before you choose a house to lead, there is still a wealth of tedium for the player to wade through to get to the juicy bits of plot and good battling

I feel like he writes off a few things in the game that are actually important. Fishing is important for monthly stat buffs. I’ve always got my dexterity meal on point with my Cyril (somehow became my favorite character) getting a double shot and crit at least 95% of the time with his bow. I really take advantage of the fishing and cooking since I noticed that the buffs will stack for the month. I noticed in the vid that he was on turn 17 😅.... I honestly think that falcon is just not good at this game. Not to mention that if you want to mold your army into YOUR army, you won’t automate anything.
