- Novak Djokovic has been deported from Australia after losing a last-ditch court bid to stay in the country.
Judges rejected a challenge by the unvaccinated tennis star after the government cancelled his visa on "health and good order" grounds.
Djokovic said he was "extremely disappointed" but accepted the ruling. He has left on a flight to Dubai.
It marks the end of a 10-day saga, in which the Serb fought to stay to defend his title in the Australian Open.

He ended up “in the court” instead of “on the court”. Small difference that brings about huge implications.
Djokovic is the first player to be knocked out of a grand slam tournament after missing only two shots.
All the other players: Oh thank god, I might have a chance of winning now.
People wake up they're making an example of him. If a world tennis player can "loose his job" so can you. So be scared and do what they say or else is the message!
Not much attention on the authorities who granted Novak the visa. Only attention on Novak, who simply got granted a visa and subsequently thought that he could play.
If this was the UK it would have folded, apologised and then given him a knighthood.
The blame for this mess is on Tennis Australia. They knew the governments requirements for the tournament and gave him a medical exemption anyway. Then to top it off, he lied on his visa application, anyone in any country would be deported for that. The F1 drivers and team couldn't get one, nor could the British cricket team. What make him so special!
Someone holding a Serbian flag and speaking with an Australian accent is objectively funny
Rules apply to everyone.
Djokovic must be most upset with his lawyers/advisors who didn't act on his best interests. The law gives the Minister the power to deport anyone and It was obvious that the court wouldn't be able to change the law neither to say if the Minister's judgement was wrong.
Expected.. Aussie gov is one of d most strict in law execution in d world.. it would b a crazily surprise if Aussie totally allow no vaccine visitors coming in, cause they don’t even allow certain vege n plantation, or pets or animals to come in 😂
Naive…. No one is indispensable…
"When a true genius appears in this world, you may know him by this sign: that dunces are all in confedracy against him".
Still I could vividly remember the former Australian Immigration Officer's analysis of the situation which repeatedly indicate favor for Novak's side according to the law. Now Boom! Things fall apart! The Judges used common sense instead to make the ruling.
Seems many people don't know their right. And..they want others to be treated same as them to make them feel fair. They fight/argue to make others same as them but not think about their own right.
Without him it’s boring ..great Novak!! Keep
Glad to see this news
Disappointed to hear the reasons given by the AUS gov't, because we are capable of making up our own minds. However it is the correct decision based on health grounds and entry requirements. Djokovic did not qualify for an exemption and should never have been granted one. It was a foot-fault by Tennis Australia, and a own-goal by immigration department, but it nothing out of the ordinary for them.
Did I disappoint you or let you down?
Novak just applied for a visa via medical exemption rule, and subsequently he was granted visa entry into Australia. Obviously had he known that the original decision was going to be overturned upon his arrival he never would have flown there in the first place.
