Since our thermal and power consumption numbers are very different from other publications, here's some clarification on our board settings:
    -Multi-core enhancement: Disabled
    -SVID behavior: "Intel Fail-Safe" / Intel's default
    -XMP: Enabled
-All power duration and limit settings default
    -Core multiplier at defaults
    -Core voltages at defaults
Cooler: Corsair H115i w/IC Graphite thermal pads
The performance numbers we got were double-checked against Intel's engineers, and they were in line; This suggests that our thermal tests are indicative of stock performance (with motherboard vendor optimizations disabled). We did *not* ask Intel about their thermal or power consumption results.

I bought a Ryzen 2700x last week and couldn't be happier with my purchase. All games I tried so far run great (except PUBG, but that game apparently runs terrible for everyone) and working with it is a bliss. And honestly, does it really matter if an Intel processor gives you 20 FPS more in games, when the game is already running at 100 FPS, but costs twice as much? It's just not worth it.

I currently have a 4790k installed and just bought a 9900k. Can’t install it yet because I don’t have a compatible motherboard or ram (yet), but my logic was: “if I’m using a 4th gen professor, I should probably upgrade to a 9th gen one that is most future-proof.” Also the packaging is neat, 3D shapes are cool.

I just don't understand why an 9th gen 8-core cpu still has the same amount of threads as the 3rd gen 4-core i7. It is absolutely stupid that someone paying $500+ for a CPU should have to chose between having SLI or a dedicated 10Gb network card.

If anyone is interested in my upgrade from 3570k to 9700k both used with GTX 970
    i5 3570k -460 Points at Cinebench R15
    i7 9700k -1578 Points at Cinebench R15
    Both with GTX 970 EVGA
Battlefield was NOT playable with the i5. It looked awful and still didnt perform.
WIth the 9700k i got 90 FPS at High/ Ultra settings at 1080p and it drops to 85fps.
Cooling was with the Enermax Liqfusion 240 and it never got above 55°C. GPU was about 72°C.
I actually wanted to build a whole new PC, but it seems i dont need a new GPU right now.
I dont need 1440p. 24" IPS Eizo is fine as fuck (i prefer IPS.....nothing can beat that colors from Eizo), and 1440p only makes sense with a larger Monitor.
In other Games the 9700k doesnt swat at ALL.
    20% usage in R6, 42°C.
TDP is only 55 TDP with BF5.

I'm not a hardcore gamer, so I'm in a dilemma. I am a flight simmer, and occasional Madden player and that's pretty much it.
I'm deciding between an 8700K, 8086K, 9700K, or possibly this 9900K to match with an 8GB GTX 1080 GPU. I want to be able to watch 4K movies but play my games with a good balance of FPS and resolution, which I'm guessing would be better at 1440p. So I'm also in a monitor dilemma. 4K monitor for movies lowers the FPS for my flight sim. I'm choosing 16GB of RAM as I don't see a need for 32 GB yet.

Ok, you save 80$ with the 2700X but you lose also 5-20FPS ingame. If you're rocking a 1440p 144hz monitor, 80FPS vs 100FPS makes a difference. I had a Ryzen 1600 and the i7 7700K feels faster. AtomEditor, Blender opens much faster with Intel than with AMD.

All are talking about gaming. Sure most PC users are gamers, but there are other users out there also. I´m working as a 3d designer with Cinema4d. Sure for rendering a Threadripper is worth his money no doubt, but for working in C4d.... No Sir! The AMD´s singlecore performance is bad as f**k. I work with both systems, AMD and Intel and it´s not possible to have a smooth viewport with an AMD system. And if this issue will persist, you have to take an Intel system, no matter what the cost.
