I'm caught in a landslide. There's no escape from reality.
Paw: Have to open my eyes. Look up to the screen and see-
Nostalgia Critic: This is a poor movie! It's got no sympathy!

    8:31-8:50
Fun Fact: The scenes with Jean Valjean and the Bishop didn't exist in the original French production. The musical initially began with the At the End of the Day song. Valjean's past as a criminal and why he broke his parole was revealed in a longer version of Who Am I. Even the recording of the London production lists it as a Prologue.

+Bill Jacobs Also, you clearly must not have watched the vast majority of the films I've talked about,
      1) and yet you purport to know most of them had intermissions (almost none of the ones listed here do)
      2) You purport that most of these entries are "old," when in fact almost half of them were produced in the last 30 years. Keep in mind, the medium of film is over 145 years old.
      3) Considering the statistic majority of these film made BANK at the box office, (statistics from box office mojo) BANK in home video (statistics from EMedia) and BANK in subsequent re-releases, It can be statistically verified that most people don't think they "drag on."

    • Noah White
      Noah White Month ago

+Bill Jacobs Also, It's not an argument to say these films are exceptions because they're old. Either it is impossible 100% of the time or 0% of the time, you don't get to cherry pick and haphazardly contradict you're own logic.

    • Noah White
      Noah White Month ago

+Bill Jacobs You're right. 63 films is a really "short" list.

    • Bill Jacobs
      Bill Jacobs Month ago

Okay, now list all the movies less than 3 hours long, and then figure out the ratio between them. He didn't say it was impossible, but there's a reason this list is so short, and many of the entries are old (when they actually did have intermissions). And that's assuming we all agree that those movies don't drag on.

  • gunfighter
    gunfighter 2 months ago +4

Well to be fair to the film makers, most of the stuff that happen in the film happened in the book. Plus I think Cosette was given to that abusive family when she was 2 or 3 years old so she really didn’t know her mom other than the fact she paid for her to life with her foster family.

A good singer learning to sing from Russel Crowe? That's like Disney taking animating advice from Illumination; or a fish taking swimming lessons from a piece of driftwood; or FOX or CNN copying TMZ's format; it can hapoen, but it makes barely any sense!
