Frank Lampard’s tenure at Chelsea has begun with some good football but less than great results. A high-scoring pre-season, which saw plenty of goals scored and conceded while using Lampard’s preferred 4-2-3-1, has given way to a less successful start to competitive football and a return, of sorts, to Maurizio Sarri’s 4-3-3 with Jorginho anchoring midfield.
But, Jorginho is still flawed defensively in this system, and Lampard needs to achieve a balance in his preferred style and how the team need to defend. If Lampard can continue to coax attacking intent from his team, while introducing more youngsters and tightening Chelsea’s defensive shape, he could prove a good appointment, but it’s currently a big “if”.

This dated quickly - it's like all the preseason predictions of Watford pushing forward and challenging Everton, and Man City to be clear ahead and of course Tottenham massively underperforming compared with preseason expectations. Even Steve Bruce is performing better than expected.

You've got your analysis of Jorghino incredibly wrong. He is cut out for the role, in fact he's made it his own and is arguably the first name on the team sheet. He builds and dictates play, leader on the pitch, commanding and actually has good energy and pressing work rate getting across the pitch despite lacking power or pace. If you studied him and chelsea properly you'd notice he is a very intelligent and key player. Premature and click bait video.

Chelsea do not have a defensive problem because of the "energetic" offensive play... they have a set piece problem where every corner against them results in a goal

I would hope that once CHO, RLC, Kante, Reece James, and Rudiger come back then it will be much better with the option for a 4-2-3-1 with kepa; azpi/James, rudiger, Christiansen/zouma/tomori, Emerson/alonso; kante, Jorginho; CHO, RLC/Mount, Willian/Pulisic; Abraham/Giroud

Surely Drinkwater should start. When he was in the double pivot, he performed the Toure, chance creating role, while Kante performed the Barry defensive role, to use the example of my favourite double pivot, 2011-12 City, I supported them then, don't now. Anyway, Drinkwater created so many chances that season and supplied Mahrez with a lot of his balls, and Vardy. Insanely underrated part of Leicester triumph. People hate on him because they signed him for more than Kante. Kante was to do with the release clause Leicester set for him so he didn't go for any less than 30 mil. Drinkwater was due to the fact that Leicester had more control over the price. Drinkwater is far more offensive and better for the Chelsea style than Jorginho who no one can tell where he fits in. With Kante behind Drinkwater and Mount, Chelsea could win something. The hate on Drinkwater is wrong and he's worth more than Burnley.

I have one other worrisome thought... I hope that Zouma gets his mind back at the game, he was brilliant 2 seasons back before the injury right before the end of the season, a true masterclass of a defender. Now, while he still shoes signs of who he is, he makes a lot and i mean a lot of mistakes in covering attackers, positioning etc. I love Zouma, but he will need to get better to stay in the st 11.

I like Lampard's pragmatic approach. Seeing Chelsea play is a joy as I am also a big fan of high pressing marking if needs be. He will get it right in due time and I fear once that happens, Chelsea would be seemingly impossible to stop. I am an Arsenal fan by the way.
