Logitech (or Logi) has extended its MX series from the Master 2S, Anywhere 2S, and Ergo to now include a 4th member: the MX Vertical. It’s a 4000 dpi ergonomic vertical mouse that I guess you could use for gaming if you had to...

at 1:25 Linus says "A group of mice" - THIS IS ACTUALLY TOTALLY INCORRECT!!
I've been a life-long PC nerd, and when I was younger, I remember learning that when speaking about the COMPUTER PERIPHERAL, when you have more than one computer mouse, you have "MOUSES", not "mice". When you're talking about ANIMALS, when there is more than one mouse, they're considered "MICE".
Next time you visit an electronics store like Fry's, Best Buy, look above your head at the signs that tell you what is in each isle! They clearly say "Computer Mouses and keyboards" ....... Next time you shop for a mouse online, you'll notice they're called MOUSES ( if the website says mice, it's incorrect)
I don't type in caps because i'm angry or yelling, I smoke a lot of pot and sometimes it just kind of happens that way for some reason

HELLO LOGITECH!!!! I'm a typical generalist user. As a multimedia 2D 3D intermediate hobbyist, I frequently hyper-research online, make notes and shift between progs. I like my mouse light, small, nimble (wireless), and super programmable with max amount of buttons. My current favs are Anywhere 2 and G900. Not moving onto Pro Wireless because (1) fewer buttons (2) no tilt scroll (3) still a "tall" wrist killer (4) still lame battery life. My ideal mouse would be a (use my phone charger) Qi wireless charge-able, Bluetooth optical with a dozen extra buttons. It will be light (under 90g incl battery) super CUSTOMIZABLE = flexi-height (2cm to 4cm), flexi-slant (vertical to horizontal), flexible extra button options (like G900), and left click button mechanical calibration (have mercy on people with long/short index finger!). Definitely AMBIDEXTROUS, so I can buy two and use on both hands. Would be cool if the scroll wheel can be physically switch into "mini track ball" or "joystick" mode, so I can stop pining for a better 3Dconnexion, which Logitech is doing a horrid job developing!
Oh and I was one loud one who shouted at Logitech on Amazon and official forum about Anywhere 2 driver disaster and Logitech responded. Thanks for listening.

So if keeping our arms at a 90 degree angle is so much better why haven't we just moved along to joysticks we move around like mice with with mouse sensors on the base of them? We could use our little finger and ring finger to grip the joy and there could be an upper and lower trigger for our middle and index fingers. Could anyone explain why that wouldn't be the natural progression in terms of ergonomics? Does it somehow introduce different issues with ergonomics?

Funny thing is, when I saw this video when it first came out I thought it was a cool product that I'd never use... then at work I end up straining my wrist to a dangerously painful point and I am now using vertical mice at work, so I'm giving this one a try. I do wish it had the unlocking scroll wheel since I live by that feature at work, but I will trade that for not getting my wrist cut open by a surgeon.

@4:40, so the issue that's occuring here, is that when you commit to a click, you are exerting a force in the x/y plane, that you normally would exert in the z (vertical plane) this force is causing the mouse to move as you click the buttons. Normally there is not an issue with this because in a normal mouse, the click force is going into the table and not causing the mouse to move, but with this vertical mouse, the perpendicular forces applied to the mouse cause it to move and "misclick". I would assume that most people would either get used to this movement and compensate automatically whenever clicking the mouse by moving the mouse in the opposite direction as the mouse click, but it could just be an excessive amount of force applied by the user when clicking the mouse.

BTW: what I would really like to see is a Apple mouse-like but vertical like that one. You would solve the clicking problem as well as the wheel issue and many more… But then again it could cost as much as a small car…

I had the wired version of that Anker mouse, and can confirm pointing was indeed an issue. I've found that I use both my G600 and the vertical mouse. one for screwing around online (will until recently, the Anker's little feet fell off and it's just not comfortable to use) where pixel perfect accuracy isn't needed, and one for when I need precise control. It is a quite comfortable type of mouse to use, though. I think the micromovement part might be tied to the fact that the laser/optical sensor isn't in the exact center of the mouse, so any twisting will move the cursor however small.
The most comfortable mouse I've ever used though, was this dumb $15 'FPS' mouse that had a grip like a handgun, and it sat on a base that you slid around left click was the trigger, and there was a second one for right click under the thumb I think. it was odd.

I still have an old Logitech Freespace air mouse (which I can no longer use since the usb receiver broke) and I found that I had very similar experience with clicks while using it in air mode, no resistance beneath the mouse makes clicking awkward and inconsistent. Very nice in styling however, and the battery is freaking incredible - I just found it the other day in and old box from when I moved 3 years ago and its still fully charged and turns on! Wonder if I can find a replacement receiver somewhere for a decent price...

2:30 Umh no. You should check out the Anir (3M) mouse, which must be decades old. I've used one for years and thinking of getting a new (optical) one. You click by squeezing your fingers and the thumb has 2 buttons, it's like a joystick you move around. The side of your hand rests on the base. It takes some getting used to but your arm will be so much more relaxed than with a regular mouse or trackball.

I tried the Anker mouse show on the Amazon comparison, and it felt cheap, and was harder to use for me. I do a lot of CAD, which uses the middle click to pan and rotate the model. The middle click on the Logitech is soft and easy to do hundreds of times per day, but the Anker had a huge spring weight to the middle click, meaning I had to grip the mouse like crazy hundreds of times per day, which was worse than a regular horizontal mouse.

So I got this mouse shortly after seeing this video (it was a new release anyway and I already had my eye on the MX Ergo). And having it for some time, best upgrade I have had. My forearm was pretty sore and now it's not anymore BUT for the first while I was straining the tendons in the back of my hand more than usual so I got sore there but eventually got used to the mouse and have no issues.
I work in CAD using things like Revit and AutoCAD so this made work FAR more comfortable.
I also tried using it in a FPS (I thought 'Hey! It's going to be more like pulling a trigger now!') and while I never used a mouse and keyboard before for an FPS, this was still really comfortable.

The $20 M618 is much better. It has a palm-rest and hurts less to use. All these do is transfer the wear to your shoulder. It is cheaper to buy a replacement claw for your hand than it is to purchase a new shoulder or replacement arm. Ergonomics fail!
