4 Times An NBA Team SAVED A Player's Career

Welcome back everybody to Sporting Logically, today we are talking about NBA players whose careers were saved by an NBA franchise. For each of these players, there is a clear crossroads in their career - a point in time in which it seemed their time as an NBA player was over. This could be for a number of reasons - returning from serious injury, seeing almost no individual success in their first few seasons in the league, or even having great success early on... only for their production to fizzle out over time. But regardless of the situation, it was clear that each of these players seemed to be only a blip on the radar of NBA teams. That is of course until, as the title implies, one team decided to give them a shot - one last chance to prove themselves worthy of an NBA roster spot - and as a result of that chance, they revitalized their careers and became valuable contributors in the NBA. Obviously each of these guys worked hard to improve their game to become a solid NBA player, but there is also little doubt that the structure of their new team played a big part in their growth as well. Before we start, obviously there are more than 4 instances of this occurring throughout NBA history - these guys are just my favorites and the ones I find most interesting... but if you have some other guys in mind for this list, be sure to share them in the comments section below. Lets go ahead and get started.
1 - Gerald Green, New Jersey Nets
2 - Javale McGee, Golden State Warriors
3 - Danny Green, San Antonio Spurs
4 - Shaun Livingston, Brooklyn Nets

The warriors have saved a lot of careers, I mean, look who’s been there and won titles: Javale McGee, Nick Young and Shaun Livingston. I feel like there is more but those guys definitely wouldn’t have rings without GS

Dennis Rodman, Detroit Pistons and Chicago Bulls.
After Detroit's Bad Boy team disbanded due to Chuck Daly's firing, he felt lost and abandoned by the team, because Daly was a father-figure to him. Add that to Rodman going through a divorce and custody battle for his daughter, when he thought about suicide, he only went as far as a 'suicide of character. Changed up his persona to get rid of his shyness, and demanded a trade.
Spur's structured style never meshed with Rodman's playstyle OR his new persona, which rubbed most of the more conservative team mates the wrong way. Though he did meet Jack Haley, the only person more accepting of him.
His career, and life, was saved again, when he was traded to join the Bulls, and finds another father figure in Phil Jackson. Jack Haley also was traded there, but Jackson, a former rebel in his playing days himself, also treated him fairly respectfully, but of course, when he was cut after the Bulls were disbanded after 1998 when Jordan, Pippen Steve Kerr and Jud Buechler left thhe team or retired, Rodman's career and life really spiralled out, again.

Jeremy Lin is a big one, was on a 10 day contract with the Knicks, and probably was going to be out of the league right after. Fortunately Knicks were lacking on the PG spot that gave him a chance to break out. Which lead to his crazy contract with the Rockets

Heard that it was Iguodala that got GSW to give McGee a chance. Glad that under GSW coaching, McGee had improved his basketball IQ. I also think that his goofs put other players guard down, that he could sneak to the rim.

Blue Sky Ok. Agreed, this goofy dude maybe playn the part of dummy, but has a championship ring. Other well known/great players have to sit back and watch the bullshit unfold. SMDH some players would want a ring next to being inducted into the HOF, but...
