  • In this video Rick Shiels PGA golf professional tees it up at Royal Portrush Golf Club in Northern Ireland.
Royal Portrush is the host venue for this years (2019) Open Championship and Rick heads out to play the famous course as part of The Open Links Invitational.
Rick plays the exact same links that Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and the rest of the PGA Tour and European Tour stars will play this week for the 148th Open Championship. Who will win the 4th and final major of the season and take home the claret jug?

Tie between the two Open’s. They both are usually a huge challenge to the players.

That is a tough one to answer. I would say it is a tie for me between The Masters and the U.S. Open.

What a fantastic event for all involved. Great for fans, golfers and the country as a whole.
Sorry about the weather on final day, it emptied out of the skies as usual. 4 seasons in one hour!!!
P.s my wife and I got the chance to stand on the 6th with no-one else and every player was so friendly and talked away.

Hi Rick, great video as always. Could you do a video on shot shaping? Such as low stingers, high flight, fades and draws. It would be great to have more in the arsenal out on the course when things don’t always go to plan or the weather is against me. I have gone through your videos but can’t find one, I may be mistaken. Thanks in advance 👍 Edit - You’ve done one for wedges, which has been a great help, if you could go into irons etc explaining what situations are good for certain shots, as if I’m hindered by trees etc, I just tend to play out sideways which breaks my heart 😂

Hey Rick, I’ve noticed that most of your misses are left. Why not set up to play a shot down the right side of the fairway? If it’s not a miss you are still in good shape, but if the miss happens your left with a more suitable shot.

Portstewart edges it in my view. The back 9 just gets longer and narrower as you go on. The first 9 is postcard perfect on every tee/green.

@Stewart Grindlay . The Portrush we played was different from now, the holes have been changed , we also played Malone near Belfast very good Parkland course. Have to put Portrush as my favourite but wouldn't put anyone off any of the three.
