Imagine simping for a guy so bad that you turn him into a vampire, trap him in a coffin for 200 years and punish his family just to come back 200 years later and do it again all because he didn't want to go out with you

    • mukor

i'm trying to stop watching these but i admit that these are addictive. me being a movie freak has been on hiatus for a while, so i kinda feel watching recaps will hit me back in the face when i get around watching stuff again, having spoiled quite a few movies.
but i don't know. it's mostly movies i'd probably never get around watching throughly anyway and that might not even be very special, but that are cool in this "format". it's a double edged sword really :)
but yeah, sometimes a short story can be cooler without than
with all the prolonged drama and dumb comedy etc.. and sometimes not.
just like watching game play-throughs, feeling you kill the gaming experience but on the other hand thinking you'd probably never play the game anyway. heh

Seeing Johnny's flexibility in roles in the early 2000's is crazy. I would love to see a Tombstone remake with him in it. I feel like he would be one of the very very few actors that could even hold a match to Val Kilmers portrayal of Doc Holliday

It was entertaining at times and the style is flattering. I would say you have to be a certain kind of person to sit all the way through and not get bored a lot. But Johnny makes it watchable, thank God. One of my favorite roles of his. I'm glad he does diverse roles like this because I respect him a lot for it. This film could have been really bad. I wish the critics weren't so harsh about it fr. Every movie has flaws, but that doesn't make it a bad movie. 💁‍♀️ some of my favorite movies bore me a lot, but it's too good to hate. I feel warm when I think about this movie. Definitely need to watch more.

Designated Hero: Sure, Angelique is an Ax-Crazy Wicked Witch Yandere, but are we seriously going to overlook the fact that Barnabas is the one who toyed with her emotions, murdered way more people than Angelique did, and received no punishment afterwards? Not to mention, him constantly cheating on "Victoria".
    1) He didn't toy with her. In the prologue, he outright states to her that his attraction was purely physical and continues to claim as such throughout the movie. He does admit at the end that he did have some feelings for her, but was put off by her Yandere mindset.
    2) Also doesn't being buried alive for 196 years count as a punishment?

You know the scheme of the eternal punishment of turning a lover or you turn him into a vampire, trap him in a coffin for 200 years and punish his family just to come back 200 years later and doing all again reminds me of Tessa punishing Silas and Amara with eternity of pain after betrayal in vampire diaries.

Not sure about their past relationship but it's pretty clear he doesn't refuse any women that comes his way. Knowing she wants his love but also ruined his family, he still sleeps with her even though he "loves" another?? Super sketch.
But I also find it hard to sympathize with Angelique bc she killed innocent people such as his parents. Take your anger out on the guilty party and be done with it! She went too far imo. Taking your anger out on the uninvolved is so distasteful!

@Oshun357 So how about YOU stop trying to make her out as the good person in all of this, I'm not trying to cause a issuse when there isn't.
I am pointing out the fact you are glorifying some toxic behaviour by saying things like "sHe jUsT wAnTeD tO bE lOvEd."
I am pointing out the fact that you think of outright stating "Our relationship is purely carnal, don't expect anything out of this." as playing with her feelings. I don't know about you but to me that doesn't seems like "hE tOyEd wItH hEr fEeLiNgS."
You know? I can already tell this is gonna go nowhere and this is just a waste of my time. I just gonna leave now. No point in having an argument with someone is going to disregard everything I say.

    • Oshun357
      Oshun357 2 months ago

@Soldier 209 that's not what I said at all. Actually he did toyed with her feeling Because he sleep with her and stuff. But at the
End of the day my comment was referring to her view of things and need for wanting to be desperately loved. I said nothing about anything he did wrong nor rght. Stop trying to cause a issue where they isn't one you knew damn well I didn't say he had to loved her back back. Geez whiz,
      .

    • Soldier 209
      Soldier 209 2 months ago +4

@Oshun357 Just because she likes him doesn't mean he needs to like her back, that's just not how it works. It's not like he toyed with her feelings, he made it clear that their relationship is purely carnal and turning someone into a vampire and ruining their life isn't exactly how you get someone to like you back.
I hate how our society has such double standards for women, if the genders in this movie had been reversed people would be hating on Angelique.
When it's a guy being toxic and ruining a girl's life after getting rejected, it's him being a incel.
When it's a girl being toxic and ruining a guy's life after getting rejected, it's "sHe jUsT wAnTeD tO bE lOvEd."
      Double standards y'all?
And when it's a guy ruining family and people' lives over someone leaving them, it's him being a terrible person.
But, when it's a girl ruining family and people' lives over someone leaving them. "yOu sHoUld tRy tO hEaR hEr sToRy aNd unDeRstAnd hEr bEtteR."

Dark Shadows had a pretty sizable cult following for many years (including a yearly convention for fans that still continues today). NBC actually relaunched the soap in 1991 but bad timing killed it (Desert Storm happened after the third episode and it was interrupted so much that it was cancelled after just 12 episodes. They even tried to bring it bck in 2004 and there's another pilot that the creators hope will get picked up.

To be fair if I had magical powers I wouldn’t use it for world domination or become a new emperor.
I’d probably use them to help me win video game tournaments or when I can’t reach the remote, or magically conjure some toilet paper if I ran out.

lol most of the people backing him up were women. i dont think its the me too movement that caused him to lose much of everything but rather the fickleness of Hollywood. They abandoned him even before the verdict came out.

The scene where he looks at the McDonald's logo and mistakes it with Mephistopheles' sigil made me cackle so hard at the the movies, the whole room was laughing. In the late 1990s to early 2000s, there was this stupid urban legend that McDonald's was from the Devil because apparently Protestant parents doesn't want to see their children enjoying things and Fast Food were a pretty new thing here. With time, these legends became too ridiculous to believe, even though to this day many "churches" point out things that way. So I guess this scene triggered those memories on those people.

Well it's really sad to see the heroine (witch) die sigh
And the mc is the one at fault here in this movie which many people fail to realise
U play with a woman's emotions and then say it's nothing but physical attraction
Do u expect her to say oh ok guess we will friends from now on then
Virginity was a big deal back in the day
I don't understand instead of feed off on blood bags why does he kill people if he is not just as bad as the witch who become bad only due to mc

I really like Johnny Depp. But lately, his performance does not separate from Jack Sparrow. I don't know. Maybe it's just me. I watched Crimes of Grindelwald but I still saw a shadow of Captain Jack Sparrow there, which made me sad. Sad in a way that maybe he hasn't gotten past the character yet considering he got booted (was it due to the lies of Amber Heard?).
