  • I can't believe we haven't got around to doing this one sooner! So it was time for me and Vicki to get along to London's least used station ... Waterloo, so see what limited facilities it has.
    Website: www.geofftech.co.uk/leastused/
With thanks to Network Rail & SWR for their permission to film at ... this terribly small and underused station! ;-)

It was obviously another blatant attempt by Geoff to increase the numbers AKA the 'Shippea-Hill effect'.

Victoria station is geographically on the west of Waterloo, but it runs south eastern lines where as waterloo runs south western lines. That seems very weird and inefficient, to me. Would really appreciate a reconfiguration, so that Victoria serves south western, and Waterloo serves south eastern lines.

Typical least used station, only one Pret a manger and a pub. Beeching would be turning in his grave knowing he missed Waterloo. What a lemon.

The problem is that from the South West itโ€™s the slower line thatโ€™s used so people tend to automatically use the Penzance to Paddington line as itโ€™s about 30-50 mins quicker.

I've been to London Waterloo! I changed at this station from the Northern Line to the Railway to go to Ascot to see my cousin and her husband. It never occurred to me that people rarely use this station.

6:35 you missed a gem behind you! The old fella pushing the wheelchair his name is Dom... he is the longest serving railway staff member in the country. He is in his 80โ€™s and still working and has been at the station since he was 16. The BBC even made a small piece on him.
P.S if you wanted to measure the platform you shouldโ€™ve gone to P24 itโ€™s the longest in the station and reaches a quarter down to Vauxhall...

I used to be one of the small band of regular passengers using Waterloo. Back then it also used to service a small branch line to Paris. When I moved away that fell into disuse for some 10 years but I see those platforms have now come back into service. Hopefully the people of Paris have found another way to get up to town.
