skip 7 minutes if you don't care about brief history of Chernobyl which thanks to HBO everyone should be familiar with. It's a problem since corium isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Why does the narrator say the sarcophagus is designed to lock it away forever, then seconds later he says it wasn't designed to last forever?
Oh then he says the new safe containment was designed to last 100 years, and right after that he says locked away forever. Very annoying.

Not to mention the "Elephant's Foot" underneath in the basement, that's slowly melting through the basement levels, and soon may reach the water reservoir underneath, and it could cause another explosion if they do come into contact.

    • zolikoff
      zolikoff 10 days ago

It's solid and cold, it's not melting through anything. And no, it couldn't cause another explosion if it just came into contact with water, even if it was melting somehow, which it isn't.

Those liquidators had zero choice. Allmost all where gathered in the night and brought there without a word why or where exactly they are being brought and whta theyll need to do. They also had no radiation gear of any kind. Fucking russians called them bio robots. Noone chose to go there or clean it. In Soviet union such a thing a free choise never existed. Dobwhat the state says or die. Very simple and inhumane.

  • Don't subscribe me, i'm serious.

Fukushima actually had more radiation and more damage done than chernobyl
