Vikings did not twist the steel to their swords. A high quality of steel was imported from the middle east and used for the sword making though, however most of the viking swords was of poor steel quality.

I was wondering about the respirator that Alex wears when he is grinding. I noticed that his beard sticks out of it and I was wondering how effective the respirator is if it doesn't make a solid connection with skin? I ask because I, too, have a large beard and want to get into knife making.

Have you ever thought about making a multitool? I find most multitools are awesome at one thing and the other tools tend to be secondary, like the knife will suck and the pliers are great, but the screw driver is awkwardly placed. What if you made a stacked tool that was foldable like a Leatherman but the tools were enterchangeable just a massively confusing quest for perfection

1 month later and we're still on the same sword. You're up to episode 18 on it so I guess I can start watching. Don't worry man, I'm sure one day you'll get good enough at this that it doesn't take you a month to make 1 single sword. Honestly, if it does take this long to do this one sword then my bad, but it feels like you draw these episodes out soooo long I can't watch it until you finish. I'm not going to wait days to see "Oh, he sharpened the blade this episode, can't wait to see what he does on the next one".
