Good lord if howard didnt walk on the inbounds and then hayward spent 8 out of 10 secs in the lane with no 3 sec call on the first score....

This is a championship more people remember as Butler's run more than they do a championship season by Duke.

Probably the closest an NCAA Cinderella has ever come to a championship. It also put Brad Stevens on the map as a coach NBA teams wanted, and Stevens parlayed this a few years later into an NBA job.

Why does Hayward always get unlucky? First he missed this shot, then 7 years later, he had one of most gruesome injury of all time

After Gordon Hayward left Utah for Boston, I'm sure Duke fans are now not the only ones happy Hayward missed this shot. Now a few people in Utah are as well lol

Looking back at it, 4:32 - Zoubek should’ve just tipped the ball down court and that would’ve done it.

Typical of college basketball. It’s the last two minutes of the game but the video is over six minutes long. Too many whistles and stoppage in this game.

If that shot had gone in at the end, Butler would have been first mid major team to win since UNLV in '90

Gordon hayward is the first inbounder but couldnt pass it so they call another timeout then he missed the first shot if they have a timeout remaining 🤔

It would've been ironic if Hayward made that shot. He would've had not only made a game winner in the state championship game, that he did with Brownsburg (Indiana) (when he was in high school), but one for Butler in the NCAA Championship game, as well.

let it be known the basketball gods despise upstarts like Butler. Duke must always win. whether they're supposed to or not.

If the refs hadn't of blown about 4 calls to help their darling Duke, Butler wins, but instead, Duke gets yet another referee gift wrapped title.

Brian Zoubek's defense and rebound really helped this one for Duke. Zoubek was a sought after recruit coming into Duke but didn't do much his freshman to junior year. Then his senior year he stepped up and just got tons of rebounds and played great as a role player. He's a classy guy, always in a good mood.

Feels bad that all everyone talked about was how that last shot almost went in. Looking back we had Kyle Singler and Jon Shyer, two unheard of guys these days, lead their team to champions

If the ball was shot maybe an inch or 2 lower and was able to hit the backboard cleanly and go in, we see this as not only the greatest underdog win for Butler in NCAA history, but arguably the greatest National Championship of all time. Gordon Hayward will become a much bigger face of Butler, and chances are Brad Stevens could possibly be staying as a college coach. If only the rim was generous, would we know 🤷‍♂️
