I have two teenagers in school and am bloody fuming about this. They are freezing cold all day, yelled at for not following the one way system, yelled at for sitting with their friends at lunch for too long without a mask. Kids are not and never have been vulnerable, in fact the percentage of vulnerable people is minute. Teachers are not vulnerable unless the average of teachers is 85 these days, if you are going to go to these lengths make sure it is for something worthwhile and deadly to everyone, the virus is not the concern here it is the response to it.

The fundamental question is why they are necessary? Children are not at risk of Omicron and the teachers are triple vaccinated. Whether masks are effective in disease prevention in the real-world is of course debatable but even if they are what is the point?

i don't mind the fact that we now have to wear masks in class - of course, it's a safety measure, but i've already gotten a cold and light spots on my face from wearing it so much, and i rarely even wear it in class. an easier option would be to just... separate tables and chairs and make people sit further away. it's not fair to have to wear a mask 6-7 hours a day.
