  • Paul Pierce, Chauncey Billups and Jalen Rose of NBA Countdown sit down with Max Kellerman of Max on Boxing to discuss what heavyweight fight they want to see next. They discuss a potential rematch between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder but they also question where Anthony Joshua falls into the mix. They also discuss the possibility of Floyd Mayweather Jr. returning from retirement to "whoop someone."

Errol spence was around, Thurman was around, DG was around, etc he stopped fighting the top dogs during the Money Mayweather phase.
Mayweather had extremely high ring IQ, had a huge arsenal of moves, was a master technician, one of the best defensive boxers of all time.
But he WAS NOT HABITUALLY hungry to fight the best of the best at their primes.
    Notable wins:
De la hoya was 34 and a controversial win
Hatton was 29 but a super lightweight
    Marquez was 36
    Mosley was 39
    Cotto was 32
Maidana was 31 and controversial win
    Pac was 36
This is not a jam packed resume with top p4p prime fighters with dominant KO/TKO wins. Almost all of those notable wins went the distance....Its padding. It looks good to have a famous name with a W next to it. The other 43 fights are forgettable.
There are exceptions, but a boxer’s prime is 25-30yrs old in the lighter divisions -assuming they didn’t go through constant wars and fight every two to three months over the course of decades etc. Every boxer ages differently depending on circumstances.
Although him destroying a 24yr old undefeated Canelo at the age of 36 was INSANE! Haha

In my opinion Deontay Wilder didn't lose that fight, what boxer gets knocked down once, knocked out once but still gets up and doesn't even knock his opponent down, yet wins the fight? A draw was definitely the right call, and if there had to be a clear winner in my opinion it was Deontay Wilder simply because of the 2 Knock downs and after all he was the reigning Champion to begin with and just as many people agree with what I'm saying including the judges.

Floyd Mayweather > Roy Jones Jr. because Jones relied heavily on his athleticism. I was thinking the same thing with Sergio Martinez, though, he was nowhere near as good as Roy Jones Jr. I like Hopkins more because he was able to last longer. Even at an old age, he was still a great fighter. Roy Jones Jr. was not.

you cannot mention anything about great boxers without bringing up Sugar Ray Robinson name are you crazy

    • James R Brown
James R Brown 22 days ago

I don't think it's Sugar Ray Robinson choice of fault when he was born he only he can fight the fighters that is in his age group at that time just like everybody else and that is how you determine how good a fighter is by beating everybody that's out there in their age Division and wait at that time and at that time looking at the fights that he has never won that he beat you can't discount that he is the greatest of all time compared to the fighters that are fighting now and fighting the fighters in their time

    • Johnny Vargas
      Johnny Vargas 22 days ago

The reason why I don't rank Ray Robinson in my top 5 is because ironically he was ahead of his time. He fought in an era where everyone had an outdated style of boxing while he fought with a style similar to what boxers use now. On top of that he fought in a time where no one followed a boxing diet or strength and conditioning like they do now.. while he himself did follow a boxing diet which came in handy during those 15 round fights.

  • J.A. Dixon
    J.A. Dixon 28 days ago

Floyd went thru it with Castillo chop chop corley Augustus. Fury balanced himself on the ref after standing up wlad was old and the stoppage was early against Aj. Plus the first few rounds fury barely landed a punch against wilder. If the ref isnt down on the ground screaming in fury's face he doesn't wake up. Roy had better highlights but Roy didnt didn't have defense that's why he got knocked tf out.

      Drew Holliday 25 days ago

@Francisco Pizarro and don't even play me on that level. NO there isn't a basketball player who would fight on court. Nobody does that dumbass. But if I'm looking for expert analysis when it comes to combat sports, I would prefer that it didn't come from b-ball player that barely got playing time. Let alone a player in a sport where the athletes don't fight. Listen to Jalen & Jacoby brotha. Maybe then you'll realize the , 'HOLD ME BACK' theory. BUM

    • Drew Holliday
      Drew Holliday 25 days ago

@Francisco Pizarro lol I actually have my hands registered. So Yes its offensive that ESPN would have Dominique Foxworth and Ryan Hollins give an opinion about ANY combat sport. • Francisco Pizarro

He was connecting with his punches but they were not power punches , and you do not get points for making someone Miss their punches.
