Super Saturday: MPs back Brexit deal delay

  • Not Super Saturday but Souffle Saturday quipped one MP - as instead of triumphantly passing the deal, Brexiters were sent home deflated. Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)
Number 10 is now flatly refusing to say whether Boris Johnson will send the extension letter tonight. He defiantly said he wouldn't "negotiate" - and he doesn't have to: the law just says he has to send the letter.
And ministers left Parliament saying they'd try again on Monday. But so will those who think its bad deal.
We’re also joined by DUP leader Sammy Wilson, who’s party voted against the Government, Conservative Iain Duncan Smith, Labour's shadow business minister Laura Pidcock, the Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Wollaston and SNP Deputy Westminster Leader Kirsty Blackman.
Meanwhile, as MPs debated and voted, organisers of the People's Vote march demanding a second referendum claimed that up to a million people took to the streets of London today.
Whatever the actual numbers, the crowds filling the streets of Westminster broke into cheers at the news that there could be a further Brexit delay.

Not my choice, and no longer the choice of many who voted to leave in 2016. I'm 100% behind revoking Article 50 and staying in the EU, and I support anyone who works to undermine and frustrate the withdrawal process until the decision is put back to a much better-informed electorate.

Neither Labour or Conservatives can be trusted with Britain's future. There are many in each party who refuse to accept that the referendum of 2016 is fundermently flawed. That the margin of voters that voted to leave was too narrow not to accept that a second referendum should not be called. If the representatives of these 2 parties are samples of democracy then I can be proud I am not a democrat.

The brexiteers (then the) majority did not vote for brexit, they voted for something written on the side of a bus which Bojo later admitted was a fib, a few other now proven lies, and certainly not what is being proposed now. How can a proven lie be called democratic consent, delivered as democratic just because bexiteers fell for it? This is not democratic, the other side did not vote for what we are getting, we need a second vote now.

Not much can be done with a Parliament content to resort to blackmail to force the government to neuter itself. Roll on GE and the chance to vote out every MP that is in a leave constituency and has ignored their voters. At least if Brexit doesn't happen I have the wherewithal to spend my retirement and pension in a country where democracy still holds sway and the government doesn't want everyone to go back to living in caves, cos Greta. Good riddance Britain, I will remember you fondly for the past, your future is bleak.

I believe if another referendum was drafted many people will not vote, what will these useless MP's say then? furthermore what will these MP's say when and if the vote ends up the same again? This is the question I want most of these undemocratic politicians to answer. And to conclude I don't think these MP's understand that due to their undemocratic and underhanded scheming actions that many of the UK's citizens has developed a deep deep hatred towards the majority of them, be you a Remainers or leavers.

The leave campaigns lied to them in their promises regarding Brexit. A new referendum would not mean anyone lying to them now, it would let people pick once they've realized the lack of truth they've voted under earlier.

It is a constitutional outrage and high crime, if the speaker does not allow a second vote on the agreed deal for Brexit agreed between Borris and the EEC, on 21 October 2019. Bercow, the speaker is not the Crown or the House of Commons. Otherwise the speaker will be in the Thames or the Tower and some form of Civil War is imminent.
