This guy is Brilliant. He gets the real information and lets the public know how they operate. This makes the stock go down on an overvalued company. Then he can renegotiate. If they don't renegotiate he walks away with people knowing how they actually run the company. Then the stock doesn't ever recover. Musk gets what he wants either way. Perfect....!

Twitter management was misreporting many things I'm sure. So his offer was based on public information and now he's probably finding that it's fraudulent. Some execs need to go to jail.

Or perhaps this was the plan all along, maybe Twitter was padding their numbers with bots and he's discovered that Twitter isn't as popular as has been purported

He said he was buying it because of the bots. He is now saying he doesn't want to buy it because there are not enough bots for it to be considered a $44 billion problem. The guy is trolling everyone perfectly and making a profit from blatant market manipulation as he does it.

  • AuerThePower

The deal was contingent upon twitters claim bots comprise 5% or less of activity. It's closer to 30%. Twitter vastly over valued their platform based on real user data.

Even if he had to throw some money at the thing and walk, it is investing money donation in tech. It isn't the worst case scenario. It isn't viewed as a waste of money. Sure it might have been more seamless then to make a deal and then question the specifics of the deal but it is not the end of the world to invest some money in a guru industry and diversify the initial investment. If that's the result end of the negotiation. If it changes to a different bid, then so be it. Time will tell.

First of all I am Elon Musk supporter. IMHO Elon made a far too generous offer. On top of that I believe the spam and bots are a higher percentage than estimated. @Tiny Town Software I funded my business by day trading - mostly tech like Amazon and Tesla. Doesn't change the facts:
      1. You said he will buy at the agreed upon price but if Twitter is deemed fraudulent (and they have definitely been biased using bots and AI) then the agreed upon pricing is void.
      2. Knowing contracts and that the odds of Twitter being sound is very low, I called you on your foolish statement that he will pay $54 and offered to financially secure our opposing views - but you won't.
      3. You say the richest person in the world (who started out a nobody with $100K in student loans) did something stupid and he didn't.
You would not pay for any service or product that broke your agreement, especially if they turned out to be lying. That's not stupid, that's fair. You keep doubling down on new issues without addressing the old. Do you want to hedge a claim on him having to buy at that $54 mark or do you want to admit you are very likely incorrect?

    • Tiny Town Software
Tiny Town Software 9 days ago

@Steeldriver Already did and already cashed out. I bought puts when he announced his "deal". Knowing from Musk's past how he operates (remember the "funding secured" fiasco?), I was pretty sure he was going to do something stupid.

I've been wondering about that make-or-buy decision. Musk surely has better programmers, and a better software ecosystem including AI support, than Twitter does.

I’m getting to where I despise the shows where they keep interviewing everybody but the person that has the answer. When are they going to get Elon on the phone and ask him these questions and do away with all the ignorant speculation?

I get the feeling this guy being interviewed is correct, I think as Musk digs into the paperwork he is finding lots of issues with twitter. I think he is getting a real picture of the actual worth of this company, which i personally think is way over valued.

The share price lost 20% or 10$ a share. Buy in cheaper or get a lot more shares for the same money.
Then cash out when the price rebounds.
    Not hard to figure out.

I think it's great that Elon wants to buy Twitter to make it a free speech platform again. However. This action can be interpreted in two ways. One. He's legitimately interested in knowing how many bots are on the platform before buying it. Two. It's a trick to lower the buying price. And again, I love Elon for doing what he does, but reason number two could also be seen as market manipulation from a business perspective. He's walking a very thin line now. I hope it doesn't go sour for him because it wouldn't be the first time they slap him on the wrist for doing so. But unlike previous times, the people who are still in power, have him on their radars because he wants to take away their no. 1 weapon for silencing people.

One can hope this is a conspiratorial type dream. Are we witnessing game theory at the highest level by Musk? Did he ever really intend to own twtr or just make it transparent to the masses the dirt and censorship at play to then create what’s needed? Exciting

Irregardless, there is a way to negotiate and resolve the matter. There is always a way.
