  • Cam St. Louis
Cam St. Louis 4 months ago +266

The more I watch these, the more I appreciate how Natsuke is so damn *clever* with the English he knows. Let's review some of Natsuke's greatest one-liners:
    - "Nobody monkey" : a perfectly logical portmanteau of "nobody here" and "no monkeys," upped by the fact he opted to become Somebody Monkey to entertain his friends (and unsuspecting livestream viewers).
    - "Spider trash" : what could better describe the anger we feel at the inconsiderate way spiders string their webs right where we'll walk into them?
    - "Let's cooking!" : the off-kilter syntax and goofy enthusiasm perfectly matches the funny and haphazard guest "perk" of a lone rice cooker in an empty cabin.
    - "Fucking electric!" : succeeds in both cursing the electric sign that burnt him, and a sarcastic British slang response describing something boring or worth missing.
The most that an average language learner can hope is to get their point across, but Natsuki does it no problem and adds a stroke of genius to boot.

@Abroad in Japan Well... Those are not exactly empty. There's authentic air inside, and that's... something.
What's more, this air was used in creation of your epic studio, doesn't it make it worth 100 yen?
Alternatively, you could just say that you're selling disappointment, which also shouldn't count as 'nothing'. Come, get your own disappointment! Just 100 yen! Cheap like a magic~!

OMFG! I have been watching several of your videos recently in no particular order and I had no idea this was a set! Upon initially seeing it, I thought to myself "Wow what a cool Blade Runner-esque ramen shop, I wonder how he got them to let him record in there on a regular basis!" (having been asked not to take photos in shops in Japan several times when I was there.) Also, how did you explain this to your landlord?
I am truly gob-smacked! This is just incredible! What an inspiration for nerds (like me). I am in the process of turning my basement into Moonbase Alpha from Space: 1999 (quite the opposite of what you've done here!) Would you mind sharing how much you spent on it? I imagine quite a lot, but whatever the amount, it was well worth it. I wish you many successful years recording in this great space!

Amazing set!!! Feels like you can film a movie there! Is an awesome set for very interesting interviews ! I love it! As a viewer rod your channel since (can’t remember because it’s been too long) I’m truly happy to see you accomplish this! This is another level!

Guys! I have been in Japan, and as far as accuracy of this build goes, I can only say it's spot on - because in Japan there IS ramen. Honestly awesome set though, can't wait for content filmed here.

Hey Chris, I was watching Joey's video about your set and I came up with a video series idea I don't think you've done yet: In the next year, you should try to go to every festival in japan, even the small obscure ones in small obscure towns. I think it'd be very fun to watch, specially if you do it in the format you do your usual trips where you take Natsuki or other guests.

I'm so amazed by the studio and I'm not even there, I bet you would feel like some character of a movie if you were in there
Btw Pete and Natsuki as ramen chefs are hilarious I definitely would be a regular if they had a ramen shop

I've been watching you since I was 13 and I just recently started university, I guess my question would be do any japanese people recognise you in public, if so what was the strangest interaction? Love the content and good luck with the new studio!
