I think don't think Netflix are trying to position themselves as premium, schlock or trying to find its right audience or niche. I think they want to throw as big a net as possible as fast as possible and just tie as much original content as possible to them before all of the approaching competition have fully mobilized themselves. I don't think they mind being a dumping ground, they just want all of it, including premium HBO-style shows, Oscar movies, blockbuster movies, Adam Sandler garbage, Syfy crap - etcetcetc...Also - Mike - making middling motion pictures isn't a scam.
Maybe they'll do a George Lucas move and release an "Enhanced" version of the original Cloverfield with added scenes of protesters of military buildups, and maybe a few CGI creatures farting too!
Event Horizon re:view, when?Mike just needs to have a "BS about Star Trek" series, and Jay needs a "BS about mind bending classic horror movies" series. It could be single series where they each do one, actually, doesn't even matter.
The only important (SPOILERS) in this review is the one for Manchester by the Sea.
All "10 Cloverfield Lane" was exactly the movie it always was. All they did was rename the monsters to be the Cloverfield ones.
The Day the Clown Cried reference beautiful xD
I do hate how this film shat on the original film's ARG.
People are slowly waking up to J.J and his MISERY BOXES.
That Disney prediction was on point!
I think Red Dwarf did an episode like that Startrek one.
I hated the husband character in this film, he had a completely pointless sideplot and the actor was fucking terrible.
Didn't pepole figuar this shit was a scam after the secound one were they just slap Clovererfield on the tittle? Nobody cares anymore
Pandorum was an alright space horror
I feel you didn't review this movie. I love scifi but I wanted someone to rip this to shreds.
How are there zero comments?
I honestly loved the movie, the music though by Bear McCreary was the best part of it for me
Wouldn't it make more sense to blow up the voyager that had the full crew? It'd be a better dilema if each voyager had a death and you had to choose which one to blow up depending on which one will be from another universe.
I immediately thought of Open House when they said bad straight-to-Netflix movies. I was so irritated after I wasted my night watching that steaming pile and didn't even get an ending.
Cloverfield of Dreams, Angels in The Cloverfield, The Killing Cloverfields, Lillies of The Cloverfield, The Garbage Picking Cloverfield Goal Kicking Philadelphia Phenomenon...The Netflix opportunities are endless!
i watched this video exactly one year after it was uploaded
Why are so many movie-reviewing duos of dudes on TheXvid called Mike and Jay?
Im here during the Super Bowl 2019. Not because of a Cloverfield Paradox commercial but because it was BORING AS FUCK!
I just want cloverfield 4 to be a proper monster movie
Just Trick 'Em.
The way he hangs up xD
What a coincident, when they go to space the series turns bad(never heard that before)
i rather watch them review The Day The Clown Cried vhs that is in front of Jay
Nice callout to Jerry Lewis with that The Day The Clown Cried VHS tape.
The day the clown cried
*Original I.T music and balloons!*
20:36Mikes Mandatory star trek reference
Constellations are different from different points of view and they wouldn't be recognisable as stars wouldn't even form the constellations as seen from earth.
I was happy with this film because I just read a comic called Caliban which had some similar space horror things, except there wasn't any huge plot holes like this film
The first dead space game is the only recent space horror that works.
Alien isolation says hi
I actually enjoyed this movie lol.
I recall hearing through the grapevine that the original foundation for this was a movie adaptation of Space Station 13, the video game. Is there any truth to that??
I thought Bright was pretty good.
I just stumbled upon this review randomly and now I’ve watch hours of Red letter media. Where has this channel been my whole life?!?!
Welcome to the fold
Anyone know where that trailer if from. Don't know where they got it
The movie is shit... but as far as the release goes, same with 10 cloverfield lane, there's like these massive AR games where they hide clue to the stories and universe on websites and stuff that people have to dig up meta data from images, and solve riddles and figure out passwords and stuff... So the whole cloverfield universe sorta exists in this obscure game on the internet and the movies are almost just pieces in that game. Watching this review and reading these comments I'm kinda surprised more people aren't aware of this. If you aren't aware of it, you should look it up, it's actually really interesting.
20:32 oh for fuc…….
This whole movie reminded me of the non sequitor of Lost.
The day the clown cried vhs tape, just sitting there on the desk. Lol
Yeah but guys, your expectations were subverted. That=good movie...right?
"...the arm stuff, but they treat that more humerus."Nice one, Jay.
What are stories but mystery boxes?
Don't try to explain science, you are dumb. Please stay with the movies.
Wait... you liked Gerald's Game?!
Loved the movie
@Robin Stawinski I feel the same way. Cloverfield 1 is such a good movie. Hopefully 4 is better.
let me get back on that; i loved the tie-in with the other cloverfield films, the movie itself is meh
Didn’t like the movie. The first two were a lot better; I would have preferred a sequel to 10 cloverfield lane. But it was smart of them to release it right after the Super Bowl and have them play a commercial.
what would be interesting. If Gugu character would have a dead family in one dimension and she would be dead in the other dimension. And she could go back, but the twist is that they are already moved (as far as you can when your mother or wife dies) on and she would be a reset for them. I would like to see what would happen then.
hey mannnnnn, I've seen you reference Creepshow once or twice. I believe that was a pretty good anthology series made for the movies. Just corny enough to be fun, an dark enough to give me nightmares as a kid haha.
Can we talk about the disgusting travesty of a movie...Open House....Ha...you JUST mentioned it.😅That movie made me lose faith in Netflix. After so much good...THAT AWFUL DISAPPOINTMENT...😭
16:41 I just need to timestamp it so I can always come back to this to chuckle
The problem with this movies is that they are made like solo movies but then JJ pop out of nowhere and says "Hey, this is Cloverfield now" and ruin everything.
9:21 - What is this from and why haven't I seen it??
I’d rather watch Attack of The Clones
“Halloween 3, which no one liked” Well, I’ll just go fuck myself then.
anyone notice the day the clown cried tape lmao
I like these videos, but I don’t understand the dislike for cinemas. Are there no decent cinemas near you? I live in Nottingham, UK and we have two really good, independent cinemas. Seeing a film in the cinema is often a different experience to watching it at home.
“As long as there are writers out there writing quality scripts we’ll be okay but there are not” was perfect deadpan I burst out laughing
why's everyone pickin' on bright?no DnD fans wanna defend a nifty take on the concept?
Go gugu go
I love that Mike’s theory at 4:10 about what a scam this movie was isn’t even as bad as reality lol
The Mandela Effect
Surprisingly enough the mystery box was full of caca the whole time
Pandorum is a great space horror movie. Maybe not as focused as something like Alien, but it mixes so many genres and actually pulls it off to some degree.
Wow, that star trek episode sounds more interesting than this movie.
Oh shit i totally forgot about his movie
Netflix still has some great films put as originals. Beasts of No Nation is a fantastic film and its a Netflix original. So if we can get stuff like that than id say we are okay for now.
If Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Lady GaGa started a band, it would be called Gugu GaGa.
i refuse to watch netflix originals unless they're released on dvds
Im personally excited that they announced that the next Cloverfield film is a direct sequel to the first. Im also in the minority, i have enjoyed all 3 Cloverfield films. I wouldnt mind more anthology, but i love the idea of direct sequels.
But that was just a rumor, now we don't know wtf is going on.
Her name is Gugu? Did her parents let her name herself?
The way I remember it is that the station in the alternate universe, that crashed, was called the cloverfield station.
Hi, I’m Red Letter Media
Cloverfield was a great love story
Meh. I side with Mike. I didn't even love the first one but I find interconnecting films really interesting.I love anthology shorts like the Alan Resnik series on TheXvid. Cloverfield sucks now except for the middle film (which isn't really Cloverfield).
-(((The Super Bowl)))- The Big Game
is there anything that doesnt remind him of star trek?
So Cloverfield Paradox is basically Another Earth?
Why the hell do A space exist
The cloverfield paradox got me so fucking mad because the entire online ARG mystery behind the cloverfield monster was so fucking intriguing.Involving shady the Tagruato company and the massive web of clues around it had loads of us going full Charlie "pepe silvia" on the internet. Instead it was all "fucking wormhole space magic" wrapped up in a huge fucking rip off of Event Horizon and The Mist
I was hoping to see harry's butt break though the clouds the stinger.
Andy Serkis's Mogwli has also been "dumped on Netflix" like Annihilation too
This is one of those movies you watch the first time and you think. How this happened, how this happened I missed something. I dont think i understand it enough, Im going to watch it again. Than you watch it again and you are like nahh . This is full of shit hiddent behind techno babble.
The Day The Clown Cried Vhs, lol
Just get some Helium-3 from the moon you dumn fucks. Why try to fuck with monsters for energy?
DUMP IT ON NETFLIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"The Day the Clown Cried" nice
this season needs a m. night twist.
"Hi, I'm RedLetterMedia and today we're talking about..."So from this I can deduce that RLM is the Borg from TNG
I'm eating seaweed soup
Event Horizon is basically ripping off Doom, Alien, and The Shining.
Don't shit on the Cloverfield franchise! It's interesting. This film however is a mess.
Idk about you but I do like the franchise. It was interesting. But this movie was weird.
Open house is like Kingdom Hearts chi Back cover in the end nobody learns anything
i couldnt even finish the movie
If theaters go away then I am going to need a bigger TV.
