Mr. Bald is so facile speaking Russian that I find strange that he has trouble with путь and платформа. Платформа = platform, путь = track. Platform is the thing you stand on, and the track is what the train is on. For example, you would first go to the correct platform, say platform 5 and on your left could be track 9 and on your right track 10. Find the correct platform then the correct track.

From what I understood put is what’s normally called a platform and platform refers to the platform.
Platform 1 would be platform 1 and 2 in most countries, put is to specify the platform.
