Hey Marty I’ve been a long time fan of you, your channel got me into guitar, would you maybe consider making a lesson for some “Roy Clark maybe Folsom prison” or maybe “home on a Monday by little river band” that would be so cool. Thx for your content and keep it coming👍

@Marty @Rhett I actually ended up buying a 50s Les Paul Standard same Color burst even... I love it. And I only started purchasing Gibson after I got Rhett‘s approval on their quality... and them listening to their fans again. Best purchase of my life so far.

Goes from a sparkle pink guitar, to a flame top 335, of which he both calls his “number one”s and “they’re with me every show” then goes on to say “I don’t like flamey guitars there too showy” 😂🤦🏻‍♂️ and as I write this he moves onto a les Paul with a flame top. 💀

  • Dracula Says I Have Great Taste

Just a little info for those looking into p90s and don't know. They are single coils too. Meaning they do produce hum. Often strat and tele pickups are called single coils, then people differentiate the p90s and humbuckers. Humbuckers are the only noise cancelling of the three and the only one of these three with more than one coil. There are pickups with many different coil numbers and some cancel noise and others don't. (Also, the pickup that sounds good with you playing along with music at home doesn't mean it is the one that will sound good in a mix with a band. That is a whole different story, hehe.) You can also get humbucking versions of many of these single coiled shaped pickups.)

I think the Rhett got it backwards. Gibson moved es and semihollows from Nashville to Memphis. Not the other way around.

Nope. Memphis is no more, building has been sold and ES and custom shop production moved to Nashville.

Maybe its buried in the comments somewhere, but I didn't see any love for the Telecaster? To me, if you can only have 1 guitar and need to be versatile, it's the Tele. You can get a used MIM tele for almost nothing and it will be a solid guitar that will do almost anything.

  • David Burke

Hmmmm. “The results may shock you” ends up feeling a bit click baity when the four guitars featured end up being a Gibson Les Paul, a Gibson ES-335, a boutique guitar from a Dennis Fano brand and a high end J-45-alike. Really... not that shocked. 😛 But a good video nonetheless.

Responding to Rhett's comment about the LP having more punch than the 335: I saw Clapton play in Portland, Oregon - The "Reptile" tour. He did not play a Strat at all. He started out playing a 335 and, of course, it sounded glorious. About 2/3 through the show he switched to a LP and the difference was dramatic. The LP just cut through everything. This was just before Clapton auctioned off a lot of his guitars, and a lot of people thought he was playing guitars from his collection. I later read an interview with his tech, who said Eric just wanted something different and instructed his tech to get him some guitars, so the guitars were probably 2001 models.

Robert Strefford Cool, I knew it didn't belong to him but he never mentioned it was an Echopark test drive. It just kind of looked out of place, too flashy, if you know what I mean. Loved the Echopark strat he tested a while back in his studio. Thanks for the response, that clears up a lot.

    • Robert Strefford
Robert Strefford 5 months ago +1

@Artic White65 He was trying out one of Echopark's Flying V's as a one off for a show near Detroit. Think Gabriel Currie brought some guitars along for Gary Clark Jr. Band and Rhett to try out.
