1914 | Sainsbury's Ad | Christmas 2014

  • Published on Nov 12, 2014
  • Sainsbury’s Christmas advert, 1914. Made in partnership with The Royal British Legion. Inspired by real events from 100 years ago.
This year’s Christmas ad from Sainsbury’s - Christmas is for sharing. Made in partnership with The Royal British Legion, it commemorates the extraordinary events of Christmas Day, 1914, when the guns fell silent and two armies met in no-man’s land, sharing gifts - and even playing football together.
The chocolate bar featured in the ad is on sale now at Sainsbury’s. All profits (50p per bar) will go to The Royal British Legion and will benefit our armed forces and their families, past and present.

To watch the making of our Christmas ad: thexvid.com/video/Jx3pQWbysmM/video.html
The chocolate bar is available while stocks last. Subject to availability. Excludes online.

It sucks that they never talk about this story in any of the history classes I've taken, because honestly, it's one of the most amazing historical events to ever occur on this planet.

It’s amazing the dominos that fall that create war. Ultimately the chip implemented and acted upon is fear.
Overcoming fear and seeing people as people created this momentous moment that will be spoken of thousands of years from now.
Like the act of Jesus Christ.
    And this was 100+years ago.
If they had it then. We most certainly have it now.

    • Jack Lomas
      Jack Lomas 2 days ago

@Bella pointless me saying this I suppose but some people just feel how they feel. If someone's gay then their is nothing wrong with that. If not then there's nothing wrong with that as well. To just someone just on who they are attracted to is just really petty and ignorant. But you continue to live in the dark ages I suppose. Not gay personally myself but that wonderful thing called acceptance? As long as it doesn't cause harm. There's nothing wrong with that.

    • Bella
      Bella 13 days ago

Ze Wang 2000 years old world history against it and I’m not exactly sure why us “enlightened” folk have determined that it’s morally acceptable now.

    • Bella
      Bella 13 days ago

Ze Wang just because it’s 2020 and society has been forced to embrace LGBTQ acceptance, doesn’t make it right. It’s wrong and disgusting. You realize that most of the world was against gay acceptance until the elite forced it upon everyone back in the earlier 2010s?

In some way I feel that our current generation (The so-called millenials) are what these young boys would've been wasn't been there this pointless war. Been friends with other countries people, travelling for better conditions to other countries that actually GREET you for coming, etc.

Dunno, I think we should appreciate what we have and pray for these young soldiers.
    Merry Christmas.
