I think it's safe to say at this point that if the accuser is so willing to go public with it,it's 90% horseshit and fame seaking, ordinary people that are seriously sexually assaulted are so far away from wanting everybody to know about it because it makes them feel shameful, all these accusations last couple years are pure exploitation for either personal or a political agenda in my opinion

Idiot people of today - Stop censoring comedians!! Some people who have been through way more terrible things than regretfully watching someone jerk off (like actual rape), need comedy to help them through the dark times and yes some people among that crowd still can and do find humor in rape jokes. People like myself - the darker the better. What has happen to Louis has really upset and tbh this has cheapened the whole reasoning and argument behind the #METOO movement. I am also pissed that self righteous dicks have assumed the role of been the voice of the victim and have made people more awkward than ever around the subject and not been able to joke shit off fucks up my coping mechanism. Is it just me or do any other females feel this way who could of/did #METOO (I did not by the way as from the beginning I thought that this was not the way to go, feeling like a sort of dick measuring contest on who had been hurt the most)? Most of the women I have broached this with just go off on a feminist rant. I didn't feel the need to #METOO but if people who have been raped and abused speaking up in defense of guys like Louis CK could help and give people a little bit of perspective, then I now have a reason to start talking.

I love how they say "he didnt touch nobody! He was just touching himself and them happened to be in the room..." so let's flip this then away from adult women to put it into perspective. "He (generic pedophile. Not louis.) didnt touch any kids... just touched himself and they were in the room...?" Wow seems pretty bad then huh? Why dont we not expose ourselves to people it's wrong and sexual assault.

And what no one is mentioning is those women could have gotten up and walked out of the room, but they stayed. The woman on the phone could have hung up but she didn't. Now, it's a "Me Too" allegation. Let's get this straight, femanists. You consider yourselves equal to men and that you can do whatever they can do. You also claim you don't need their help, it's misogynistic to even offer. Correct? Then you claim you couldn't walk out of a room or hang up a phone? They two comedians claimed "he" destroyed their dream to be comedians? Bullshit. They probably had no talent and used that incident, which they willfully participated in, as an excuse for their failed careers. So which is it femanists? Are you strong and independent or are you weak little girls who must be protected and coddled? You can't have it both ways.

Ambiguity is a fair argument but at the same time ambiguity is also a large part of several kinks out there as well. Its a grey area and there never seems to be a real consensus on what is ok. Probably because a consensus defeats the purpose of some of them. Agreed don't bring it to work entirely though.

RACK, risk-aware consensual kink. Louis CK's kink wasn't bad, it was the scenario and the (self-admitted) ambiguity of consent. Plus, don't kink-shame, but don't bring your kink into work.

Joe Rogan I’m a longtime fan and always respected your take on a lot of hot button issues and you never shied from the unpopular opinion or standing up for the underdog - until today. I could not believe my ears when I heard you not only agreeing with but voluntarily adding to the comments of the blowhards you had on your podcast.
I am going to be brief as possible, lest I be called the dreaded “SJW” or worse. Fuhgeddaboudit.
To put it in a nutshell, every word out of your mouth and theirs regarding Louis CK trying to come back into stand up and working in comedy again in general was all about: (and I paraphrase of course): “can’t a poor guy get a break?” and “how much punishment does a guy with so much talent have to take? I mean…” and “he was out of work for X !!” (X = amount of time apparently unfathomable to the male mind for some reason). And lastly, my personal favorites, “I mean, it’s not like he’s a criminal!” Yeah! And, “He didn’t RAPE anybody, come on!”
To add insult to injury you called the reports against Louis CK the #MeToo movement and all the current attention being paid to these experiences a “bubble.” And that he (Louis CK) would have been “just fine” had he “done this” a few years ago.”
Worse, you really lost all my respect when you started cherry picking incidents where supposedly women had wrongfully accused men of rape or sexual abuse. You also mentioned women who reported on Louis CK and others were “seeking attention.” And to all of that, I can only say:
    a) No, a “poor guy” cannot “get a break” because he is not to be pitied if you care at ALL about women and the abuse we go through daily.
    b) When and if we women do gather their strength to report sexual harassment case or incident of rape, I PROMISE YOU it is NEVER for attention or money. And it is ALWAYS a lose-lose battle for us. EVEN when there is a MOUNTAIN of evidence against the accused and EVEN when they are indicted in a court of law - it is the woman - the one who has already gone through hell and back - who gets all of the scrutiny, all of her rights violated and all of the derision from colleagues, supervisors yes, even friends and family. It is the WOMAN who 9 times out of 10 - LOSES HER JOB, HER LIVELIHOOD and is black-balled and besmirched in that industry in her community FOREVER - NOT the “poor” wittle man. HE has an instant rush of friends, colleagues and others that suddenly feel sorry for him and come to his aid (and without provocation). They come to his defense, regardless of the evidence. He is supported and believed. Whereas she is vilified and marked a “troublemaker” - one that is now a LIABILITY and UNHIREABLE. Too much of a RISK to hire. Even though all the evidence has shown he was at fault. Yep, it is the good old boys club again.
    c) When you pontificate or hesitate for even a millisecond about “gee, can I separate the man from his talent? Hmmmm….” You are in fact telling every woman without a doubt that they mean nothing to you - That they and their lives and rights are worth less than some song (as in the case of R. Kelly) or some joke (as with Louis CK). Just stop and THINK about it. Because that is in fact the message you send when you don’t outright deny them. You show where your loyalties are and what is important to you, what matters. And it isn’t women’s rights and pain.

I could go on telling you why everything you said today was awful to hear and more than disappointing, but I know it will only fall on deaf ears and kickstart the circus of little boys out there making fun of what I am saying. Let them have at it. All I can say is, I used to love Louise CK too, and was an avid fan of yours. And for whatever little that’s worth, I just hope and pray at least you grow up one day to see the ignorance of what you are saying and the pain you could ultimately be causing. Not for me, luckily, as I won’t be watching or listening to you anymore. But for others…and any female in your life.

Those 2 old dudes don't quite get what's going on. Louis sexually harassed the female comics. I'm not putting Louis in the same class as Harvey Weinstein or Les Moonves or any other of the powerful men who exploited and abused and raped women who were dependent upon those men for their careers.
No, Louis behaved like a goofy, weird freak who confused disturbing sexual antics for flirtatious camaraderie with fellow comics. It's a mistake I don't think I could've ever made, but I'm not a comic who was spending a lot of time in comedy clubs, hanging out with female comics, in an atmosphere where being goofy, weird and extreme is par for the course. The CONTEXT of Louis' demented dick jerking does matter.

    • KingKook
      KingKook 3 months ago

@Matthias Thulman No, there's nearly NO reason for multiple women to make the same accusation against someone who held very little power over them. There's nothing to be gained by them, at all, except bringing to light the climate of misogyny and male insensitivity that's VERY pervasive throughout the comic industry.
The accusers were not claiming to have been assaulted, just disrespected and intimidated. Louis, himself, has pretty much coraborated their accounts of the incidents. He says he remembers their reactions differently than as they've described them, but he hasn't denied the very peculiar behavior.

In regards to comedians being worried about people getting triggered, I think there's an important perspective that they start to touch on towards the end of this video. The audience has now gone from people that just want to laugh and enjoy standup comedians towards people who want justice and seek out things that could breed inequality. So for modern comedians, the audience has extended to people behind their computers looking up things to be aggressive towards; it's not just their fans they have to consider which is stifling at best and at worst breeds a situation like Louis CK's. It's a shame, the internet has bred this culture where we attack peoples freedom because we disagree with them and demand their shame as penance. The pendulum swings hard but damn if it hasn't gone crazy left (speaking as a liberal).

Whatever he did it was a long time ago, plus as they said, he didn't rape them or physically assaulted them, if that was the issue then to hell with him, but he didn't, he just jerked off in front of them, of course, I absolutely 100% condone his behavior, but the man made a mistake and apologized for it, he is not a criminal, and he deserves another chance, think of all the time that he made you laugh and actually made you forget about all the problems you are having, whether it's work or school or personal for a couple of hours, that alone should make you forgive him! Louie to me is one of the best comedians ever!

  • Your Friend Abby
Your Friend Abby 3 months ago

It makes me really sad to see that these folks haven't learned the lesson. When multiple people come forward about someone's behavior, it's a good sign there's an issue. I came forward about Louis. Did a lot of thinking about it too. People were calling him a monster (the 'me too' tornado was sweeping the internet) and I thought he was just a pervert with a problem. Never blamed him and made sure to tell the New York Times that too. Did it get printed that way? Uh... no.
What bothers me is that these folks (Joe and Lenny) (and fans) blame the women that came forward. (and if they're not blaming... they are walking a fine line here). Just like they originally did with Cosby. Or the boys with Michael Jackson. (and yes, I agree they are totally different levels. There are allowed to be levels, folks. Hell, I wasn't raped! Hurrah!) Did I feel shame? Embarrassment? What the fuck happened? Uh... yeah. Did it put a crimp in my momentum? Make me feel like I didn't know how to do 'business'? Uh... didn't help. Did I stop creating? No! Never! But people love to blame pretty much anyone that speaks out. Insult the people who come forward because they want 'money' or '15 minutes' or whatever bullshit people want to come up with.
Look, I'm open minded. I'm aware of my faults, and I know exactly what went down in my conversation with Louis (well, let's be honest, some of it was rather confusing). I know my history with him... and I know what my part was, but unlike most of you, I was there.
Yes, I felt consoled when Louis apologized years later out of the blue on facebook... and subsequently, when we met at canters, and I asked him if he had a problem to which he assured me he didn't. He went on to tell me about what a victim he was at the Aspen Comedy Festival when he jerked off in front of D&J. He lamented what a joke he had become, because everyone found out. (and yes, I laughed. he's funny) BUT it's a cunning move... and frankly, that's apparently what he's doing now with 'the truth'... this 'more to the story' business. I get the feeling Louis enjoys this victim role, and it looks like these fellas are eating it up. (By the way, if what went down with Louis was dealt with then, and taken seriously in Aspen, I wouldn't have ended up in a weird position. ie... he hem... sideswiped by his 'tendency').
Please let's ease the drama. I can't speak for the other women, but I didn't come forward to ruin a man's career or stop him from ever performing. I never even considered myself a 'victim'. An 'unfortunate recipient', yes. A victim? No.
It's been over a year and a half since the story broke and Louis has had plenty of chances to address what went down in his comedy. It seems like for some folks, if he can 'get real' and find the funny in it, he'll be free. If he's as brave and as talented as you believe him to be, he will.
Honestly, more than any other person in America I probably apologized to Louis more in my head after that article came out, and hell, I was even touched by his 'response' in the NYTimes the next day. I cried. I don't like seeing anyone 'destroyed', much less hurting. (he's far from destroyed) (and whoever compared this to PeeWee Herman is ridiculous. Pee Wee was caught masturbating in a porn theatre and had weed on him. He was screwed. And I'll take a Paul Reubens comeback before Louis, but hey, that's me).
But the me too movement, if anything, has taught us to pay attention. I spoke out to support the other women and to protect anyone else who would end up in that situation. Blaming the people who come forward is not the answer. So stop fueling the bullshit. If you love the guy, support him. If you don't, that's great too.
So... if you haven't gathered, I didn't really like being swept up in this movement or even being a part of it. And to be fair, coming forward and being misquoted and being tweeted and twittered (albeit by Judd Apatow) with words that weren't mine was probably more traumatizing than 'the incident'. Being the butt of a Dave Chappelle joke didn't feel so swell either. It's hard when you have little to no voice (but a lot to say). But I can assure you, it's blowing over and we'll all be the better for it. I truly believe that. Unfortunately, it just had to sting for a little bit.

oh, and one more thing. now that I'm rewatching the video, I agree with Joe... about various people coming out... and the bullshit (including Aziz). I also understand those are just old school comics joking. But please, it's very much okay for Louis to struggle for awhile. I had to live with that weird 'secret' shoved in my mouth like a dirty sock. He can take a year off.

Louis's kinky, and a little different, but he certainly isn't a "sexual predator" on the grounds of these "accusations".....

I have nothing against Louis but Oscar the grouch man sounds quite bad. Aziz’s accuser had a pretty good date you think? Come on man. He’s not a criminal, but he’s also a creep.

Agree so tired of this bullshit as an early 30's father, vet and 90's kid. I dont think most of my generation gives a shit. My dad was racist as fuck and after I joined the army, and met actual minorities, they were the ones pushing the edgy shit, willing to make the hard talks and laugh about every stupid white black asian whatever the fuck stereotype and move on. It's these pampered instagram/facebook/twitter safespace mother fuckers who have never been to a third world country and seen the truly horrific shit that exists and has existed that push this bullshit. Yes, the 1950's stereotypical Anchorman boss grabs secretary's ass type of shit needs to be addressed and shut the fuck down, no one of ANY gender or sexual orientation should have to deal with a hostile work environment but I feel comics just keep getting pushed into this box, when no, thats a comics job is to comment on the inequalities, the stereotypes to make people aware to break down the very things that keep us apart. I guarantee you these basic metoo bitches are not volunteering in ghettos to hand out food and participate in empowerment programs, they arent seeking to take public office or join the military to help be a solution they just hit their daily starbucks and snapchat grind while shitting on anyone that dares stray outside of the pc bubble and its disgusting. I can't speak for other countries but the best way to get to know someone is to care and make friends and try to understand their upbringing and let them understand yours and that will bring about greater harmony amongst all americans. Peace and love to all americans!

Do we really have to have adult conversations on how humor works now? Can we please understand that humor is a psychological catalyst to work out and get over the most fucked up things in life?
