  • We originally found this Mini Cooper in Tokyo - one of the J-Spec models made specifically for the Japanese Domestic Market. After upgrading it with a supercharger and an E85 conversion, we decided it was time to take it to the next level and transform it into the ultimate Mini sleeper...

This car should be called Honda Cooper as long as no Mini cooprr original engine..the car names because of its engine and not the body frame..thank you

Faisal Rahman I live near and know the people at Mini Tec and they have rear and mid engine RWD Mini kits and the typical front engine FWD Vtec Mini conversion and a front engine AWD Vtec Mini.

If anyone wants to see a _real_ modded Mini, have a look at Bad Obsession Motorsport's 'Binky' - an older Austin Mini with a Celica GT4 engine & 4wd running gear. It's not quite finished, but there are 20-something episodes on yt, showing it's conversion process from the start.

I had a Honda B1.7B, I know it rips the ass out of the 2.0 Honda, but why didn't you go the full monty, via Kawasaki ZRX 1400, or Hayabusa 1300, etc......& with a turbo perhaps? I've seen many mini conversions, & it just looks like the perfect match up. They absolutely tear ass. The only drawback I can think of is a P/S pump, and A/C compressor issue. Neither are absolutely necessary. Irregardless, given the opportunity to increase power of a mini, I can't understand why the same amount of effort could be put towards a Hayabusa swap. I just saw an older, light green mini online, with a Hayabusa motor, & i don't know all the details, but 240 hp is, by no means, a slouch, when it comes to performance. Unbelievable throttle response, lightweight clutch, 6 speed, (1 down, 5 up), you can use a small radiator, and it will keep it cool, compact, lightweight driveline, and many more pros, so why wouldn't everybody do this swap? I just watched a couple of guys from the UK working on a mini, & they used a complete four-wheel drive Toyota driveline. Major, major, undertaking. It was so hard to get it to fit under the bonnet, they had to use an expensive, complicated flex joint, just to drive the alternator, and A/C compressor. The bike swap just seems easier, in every respect. when you get the bike, you get everything you need, like the complete wiring harness, gauge cluster, fuel pump, throttle bodies, everything you could possibly need to swap it. Hell, I've even seen many people use the original mc gas tank in the mini, as well. Anyway, sorry for the long, drawn-out comment. I was just curious, why you chose the Honda swap.🤪💯💯💯😁

Ummm.... I reckon a better engine swap would be to a Turboed Hayabusa rear mounted engineand converted to rwd. No torque steer or space issues.
Anyway, must dash - the new leaf springs and dynamo have just arrived for my MkIV Golf TDi so I'm keen to try out these performance-enhancing mods....

    • Connor Ackerley
Connor Ackerley 2 months ago +1

@Joe Dean so what you're saying is that the majority are rusted... this is the owners fault, if they can't take care of their "special" cars, then they're not that special.

    • Joe Dean
      Joe Dean 3 months ago

@F1NNSP1N not that many minis produced that are in that good condition, most of them are rusted through and there is just no need to go to these extremes. That engine would be better in a kit car.

    • F1NNSP1N
      F1NNSP1N 3 months ago +1

There are so many minis produced, and this isn't really a special one. If they chopped up a 1959 mini, that would be a shame. This? Do whatever.
