Its gotta be a GREAT feeling to have ESPN do a story on your goal. Connor McDavid is giving hockey credibility in the sports world, I do not watch hockey but here I am. Kudos to him for an amazing goal.
I was at the game and the energy in the crowd was the best I've seen in my life. What a special moment!
Connor McDavid...basically - "Um, yeah. I only scored one of the greatest goals of all time. No big deal."
He's humble. more should be the same.
I think his demeanour helps drive his desire to keep improving. Nothing is ever good enough. There's always an edge to push...and that's what really makes him great.
I was waiting for him to describe it as filthy, but at the same time like, naw he ain’t gonna say that about his only goal lol also, espn I loved every single second of this. Please do more!
Best game I’ve ever been too. Wild ride of emotions haha.
I was an Oilers fan as a kid for the Gretzky 80s. This is sick, fun and kinda weird it’s all happening again. 21st century version of the 80s on deck.
heavy 08 Pens vibes. Two superstars, ready to take a young team to the next level.
@J T Bouchard is suiting up to be a hell of a player on the back end; add Broberg to that and it’ll be a hell of a blue line. Give the oilers a goalie and they can go far. Ken Holland is a dinosaur
They need a Letang. The whole Penguins blueline was better. And they had elite goaltending, the Oilers goaltending is garbage. They really should’ve picked up Fleury instead of letting Minnesota snatch him up.
@Dwayne ''The Wok'' Johnson We're not contenders yet, but we are much closer than people are willing to admit. But great points though!
@That 90s show Can’t blame the guy. Oilers has had a weal depth all of his carreer. It’s a team game you know. Now with some decent depth Oilers are on fire! They are legit contenders now to fear. No way he won’t win it at least once. People like you always doubted Ovi and look how wrong you were. Soon you’ll be on the wrong side of history once again
@That 90s show He has two IIHF gold medals
And then he literally did it again like a week later against a different team
Wasn't even a week later it was literally the very next game against winnipeg
That was a beaut but didn't we see a number of those during the Oiler's Dynasty era with Messier and Glenn Anderson? Sure they didn't cut in the middle but from the wing and just crashed the net protecting the puck. Who was it that perfected the technique of going in hard while holding out their hand to protect the puck from poke checks? Glenn Anderson did a number of those during his career.
It’s simply unmatchable
It only took him a week to score another one like that (against the Jets).
Steven A Smith at the end of the video 😅 that man is everywhere ♥️👊🏾
Just gotta say, I effing love having Jack Michaels as a play by play commentator!
Nice to see Zach Hyman being seen as a real asset in Edmonton.
@Stephen A. Smith I'm not denying that. What i've said is that Hyman is a good supporting player. He's not equivalent to great players like McDavid, Draisaitl, Marner, Matthews...or even Tavares.
@Joe Idaho how come guys like Kassian and Ennis didn’t score a billion points beside Mcdavid. Because it takes skill to play with even the greatest of players. The common excuse that people do well just because they play with good players is a leap of logic. While playing with good players can help your numbers, you have to have the skill yourself to keep up
@Dwayne ''The Wok'' Johnson The last time Tavares played a full season, he scored 47 goals. That certainly puts him in range of earning his salary, other than the fact he's captain of the team. Replace him with someone like Kadri and Hyman and you lose the leadership.for one thing...and you end up with two second rate players....who give you what in the end? That's where you're extremely lacking in the full picture of what a team is. You take away the high salary players from Edmonton and they will be a complete piece of shit....regardless of whether they have Hyman or not. You lack the full picture. You just think salary numbers mean everything and that is completely wrong. Show me anyone with even Edmonton who has the front of net skills that Tavares has. Name anyone who can tip a shot like Tavares does. McDavid could probably develop the skill because he's so talented...but he doesn't really play the front of the net. Hyman does, but he comes nowhere near Tavares, in regard to the talent needed to play the position really well. When does Hyman actually get a goal through a deflection? It's rare, if he ever does it at all.
@Joe Idaho you're the one who is triggered writing essays. Kadri is ppg now he has been great what are you talking about? Imagine him for 4.5 instead of Tavares for 11. You are just accusing me off stuff you are doing yourself. Now just stop responding
@Dwayne ''The Wok'' Johnson It's actually just funny to watch as the season unfolds. If anyone is triggered, it's yourself...lol...who could never admit how wrongheaded you were about your initial statement. The reason it sticks out for me...is because few would venture to go there....but you did...and you invested your ego in it also...lol. Few will go backwards...and say what they think should have happened in the past. It's just a ridiculous thing to do....especially based on behaviour from a player like Hyman...which will fluctuate up and down, depending on who he is playing with. There are players with a history....and they usually play up to it....but yet you thought that something out of the ordinary was going to stick and then also ventured to make a few really dumb statements about what another team should have done to favour that player...lol.
Seeing hockey on ESPN is so satisfying. The sport now has credibility.
Disney makes hockey legit? Nah its just how you perceive it
LMAO... And a whopping 6500 sunbscribers.. McNugget is really growing the sport!!
Well he just scored another one against the jetts
Go Oilers!
Datsyukian moves but faster. The Datsyuk goals against Nashville and San jose where he danced around 3 players is the only thing I can compare with Mcdavid
LMAO.. Ive seen a hundred Pavel Bure goals better.. With a wooden stick
I love how Draisaitl is a total fan too.
I swear he has one of the most blahh personalities of all time but hes so good on the ice its really annoying you wanna like him but once he starts talking your just let down
Hindsight is 20/20...the greatest thing about this goal is always going to be that it was against the 21-22 New York Rangers 😉
LGR
It was against Nemeth and Georgiev, the Rangers’ 2 biggest defensive liabilities. Beautiful goal still, just saying he wasn’t exactly beating the best here.
He wowed himself. Thats unreal.
I saw all of lemieux and jagr during my youth... This is nothing lol i saw that 100 times during the 90s.. And against guys like gretzky yzerman messier sakic forsberg bure selanne... Not against the new york strangers
he has told this story so many times already he seems so blasé
My Dad has lived through the glory years and horrible years, so he felt this game was over. Me however, I'm 22, I was young and naive. I told him the game was not over. But holy mackeral was that something. My Dad I both looked at each other and screamed after that goal, got off of our lazy butts and jumped. It was only November, but I could feel that building's energy for the next week, and that game I think really begun our ascension to the top of the league (before teams figured us out and we had to fire Tippett, but that's another story). Thank you for this video, really helped me relive that absolutely magical moment. I have to say one thing you missed (you show it a little bit): in the press conference room if you listen to the post game you could hear the fans shouting MVP.
I'm a religious person, but it's because of Connor that I believe in magic, afterall, that's why we call him McJesus. It's because of that magic I know we can contend soon, not now of course, the next few years will be disappointing, but we'll be there someday; and if somebody looks back on this comment after McDavid leaves and we don't win won, let this comment be a testament of the magic he inspires. Thank you Connor McDavid.
Kevin Lowe thanks the Rangers when the Oilers are retiring his Jersey LOL. Classic Lowe. To me that's more unbelievable than McDavids goal.
Well that Rangers cup was basically an Oilers cup. It brought together Oilers legends for one last run.
And people continue to say that Matthews is better. This is live proof that they're wrong
Was that game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final?
Yes it was good, but weak sauce on the NYR defense.
It was great and all, but the Rangers had their bottom d pairing out. Nemeth really sucks, he has 5 points in 56 games and is a -10. Georgiev was also in net, 0.892 sv % and 3.11 gaa, pretty shoddy goalie. Put Shesterkin in the net instead and Adam Fox on defence there and the odds become a lot less likely if him scoring like that. He very well still could, he beats the best goalies and defensemen often, just saying it’s not as impressive considering who he was going up against here.
LETS FUCKING GO OILERS
bobby orr loop, pavel bure speed, mario lemiex hands
Unbelievable? Lmao
Wasn't that good.... pleeeeaaase
why are they dramatizing this regular season game goal so much
That 90s show 🤦♀️
@That 90s show Don't expect to find McDavid's charisma, leadership and abilities anywhere but on the ice.
@That 90s show hes really not a whiner... hes the best player in the world. espn just doesnt know shit about hockey anymore. theyre so into basketball culture and shit
@That 90s show fine with me. Who cares about his personality. He’s the most humble dude ever and only focuses on playing hockey not being exciting in press conferences. No body comes to watch hockey for exciting press conferences. They come for the exciting sport that is hockey. You’re obviously one of those people that solely blames Connor for his teams lack of success! 😂 ppg player in the playoffs but yeah it’s his fault they can’t win.
Sorry but Fiala was better
Lol that’s funny
It's SO cringe seeing guys like Nurse and Draisaitl getting so much fame riding on Connor's coat tails. I hate to say it, but hardly no team deserves him outside of maybe an olympic-level Team Canada itself (an All-star team). Many of these teammates will be raised into the rafters in 30 years, just like Coffey and Lowe.. 100% undeserved, solely there because of where they were at a specific time/who they played with. Edmonton is the worst 'private boys club' of the entire NHL; a franchise surviving on 1-man dynasties. A recycled staff team of it's own ancient rosters - This, coming from a diehard Oilers fan.
Ummm....stop with all the hype! That goal was not amazing and wouldn't have happened in the 80's. Why you might ask....well he would have been flattened by one or more of those 4 defenders at the blue line! Todays hockey is soft and without the 2 line pass rule its a cherry pickers game. OV takes full advantage of that on his way to breaking scoring records. Connor is a great player but that goal was just a straight burst of speed through 4 players of which 3 did nothing but skate along! NO stick check or body checks whatsoever for fear of a penalty!? Sorry folks but a super weak defense doesn't make a spectacular goal!
@Skeeter Jaxson hahahahah
Yeah for sure your opinions more valid than people like Don Cherry. Goof
sorry grandpa, do you need your diaper changed?
Jesus christ.... I've seen hundreds and hundreds of better goals.. Millennial fan boys and the media shilling for their golden girl is pathetic
