    Your voice
    was the landscape
    of my teens

    the backdrop
    against countless parties and
    make-out sessions

    but I forgot you
    on the bewildering
    adult road

    you were just that guy
    with the red ball cap
    tucked into the pocket
    of your Levis

    (nice ass, by the way)

and I had love to find
    and children to raise
    and countless
    mistakes to make

    now
    I find you again
waiting for me in the darkness
    at the edge of town
    as if you’d never left

    I listen, and hear
    for the first time
    the sorrow and
    the desperate ache
    the fierce joy
    the message

    that I am not alone
    because you are there
    holding out your hand

    welcoming me back
    inviting me to dance

    and I

    accept
    with pleasure

His father is his hero? His father used to physically hit him and his mother had to pull him off of Bruce. How did his father become his hero? His mother sounds heroic, not his father. The beginning of the film was better than the end. It kind of went downhill when Patti Scialfa came on stage.

This was a fantastic show, so utterly moving and brilliant. It amazes me the memory of this guy, how he could memorize 2.5 hours of dialogue and it's not just any dialogue, it's these brilliantly written metaphors and poetry and that's just the verbal part, that's not counting the songs he sings.

My experience watching this was that I was witnessing a man facing his own existentialist crisis and I think it has more to do with his life stage as opposed to the loss of his father. It also read to me as a sort of confession in which he was trying to beat back the demons of that ole dreaded impostor syndrome that whispers in our ears from time to time. I also had the feeling that the show was a culmination of his hard work that he had done with his therapist and this was a way to find healing. Don't get me wrong I loved the show and his intensely personal exploration done on stage. His focus among other things seemed to me to be influenced by his full, in-the-face, realization of our mortality and I think Bruce may need to do another show, part 2, once he hits the brick wall of our own forgotten oblivion. For the record, my whole family built Chevys in the factories of St. Catharines Ontario where my dad raced his 409, dual quad, Chevy Impala on weekends....and yes, we drank warm beer in the soft summer rain too.

hate to be a downer but the Boss priced out all his fans that have been loyal to him like myself since 1978. unfortunately I don't have $850.00 to hear him talk about shit he talked about on, The Darkness, The River, and The Born in the USA tours. Jesus for $850.00 I expect Clarence to come down from heaven and blow his sax with him.

"He nacido para correr ("Born to run").

What I learned from watching Bruce on Broadway - just about everything Bruce did was totally phony from his working class accent to his factory experiences - no wonder he's depressed - the guy is an intellectual wasteland of nothingness "Bruce the Boss" is a guy without any real identity - just rambles on and on and on and no about nothing special - a total waste of two hours
