During strange times like these, we feel so lucky to be living off grid and getting to build our own home. In this episode, we continue building the foundation for the addition on our house. We also build a mega beam and have a fun time trying to move it...
*It does all the graphics one would need to display an idea to a container home lover. **containar.homes** Easy. Effective. Must have. I especially enjoyed the auto-roofing option. It made a long story short, and did it with amazing lines.*
You might try building beams from 2x12's with 1/2" plywood sandwiched in between. Wood turned on it's side is much stronger than stacked and glued flat.
They have such a good relationship!!! I love how goofy she is and laughs at things instead of getting upset!! They are a perfect match

I've been Binge watching all of your episodes over the last week or so and I have to say this one had me laughing so very hard! The doomsday prepper/spider monkeys/Bear attacking his duck were HILARIOUS! You guys are doing what I wish my beautiful wife and I had done when we were your age! I am so impressed by your dedication to get your projects done and to live off the grid! My wife and I are considering to prepare from what we have learned from you two and do the same. We would love the isolation and to just enjoy our time together with our kids. We can not do this as soon as we like but we are going to get started by purchasing some land and pricing the materials that we will need to do this! @scooter59wyo No, this video is not that interesting as other, it is def not my first one. Also it's not the first time i've seen this type of behaviours.. I mean i'm not gonna judge, i just hope they're happy, but don't defend him just because you follow them, it could be all wrong, you never know.
@Moonbeeps : Is this the first one you've seen? They've been doing this house for at least a couple years now. In several of the other segments he admits that he gets tongue-tied and isn't any good at doing out-takes. I think you're reading way too much into it. Be safe.
@scooter59wyo he was not being quiet or reserved. He literally puts on a very angry face and loses temper very quickly just bc she had to laugh... Those are not good signs.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Kenzie's laughter and sense of humor! I am so much the same and I wish the hubs would find his funny bone again because I hardly ever hear him laugh. Installing a temporary shower on a tree so you don't have to use shower bags is such a tankless task. lol! You guys are great!

I remember the nurses telling my wife and I when we brought our first baby home. They said to make sure that we made normal noise and even played classical music in the backdrop while she slept. What a lifesaver ! They slept good, even through some noise that was not normal levels. Love watching your progress.
Why the over kill with the beam? 2-2x10's screwed together standing up on top of all those concrete mounts would have more than sufficient to support the load. Also sandwitched support beams should always have the seems virtually and not horizonal to prevent sagging over time in between the support pillars.

I was anticipating the laminated beam discussion. So I think I will throw my two cents in. This is exactly why I don't have detailed videos of my build up on TheXvid. To the naysayers.... DON'T SHARE YOUR ADVICE SHARE YOUR BUILD. At least this couple has the courage two step off the porch and live a life worth living. I have built hundreds of laminated beams over 30 years and I couldn't give a damn how they built theirs. I'm just very impressed they have the courage to do it. Keep on keepin on. You guys are amazing!

Awesome video, you guys always make me laugh but this preppers intro was fantastic.
A suggestion for your build would be to add a hot water hose bib next to one of your cold hose bibs. Great for washing bear in the cold or hot pressure washing with a cheap mix valve for temp and you can also use as a hot shower until the house is done. Added one years back, great to have and cheap when walls are open.
