Do not serve a stew with egg bloody noodles my word what are you doing Tasty, this is an affront to the UK where Angus beef bloody well comes from. Serve a stew with taters, as a hash, or on its own. Not bloody egg noodles, what a bizarre cross-cultural recipe.

    • Jane Ryan-Douglas
      Jane Ryan-Douglas 12 days ago

Stroganoff is often served on noodles. Regular beef stew is equally good with egg noodles. Open your mind a little. It's honestly a great combination that you would almost certainly like if you weren't stubborn and just gave it a chance. It's good with potatoes as well, but noodles are great with stew.

Nah.... this isn't beef stew. Where are the potatoes? The thick broth? The crusty bread on the side? The veggie pieces are too small, and we always coat the beef with flour first to help make the gravy. This is more like Tasty's version of beef bourguignon, but served with egg noodles for some strange reason. Probably delicious, but not beef stew.

So, is nobody else going to say something about how the dude just touches the raw beef and then puts his fingers into the pepper and salt to sprinkle it? Sure, it's for a show, but please, do pay attention and teach your viewers proper health procedure while in the kitchen. I do not want potentially contaminated salt and pepper on my salad or whatever.

    • Dave Jones
Dave Jones 13 days ago +1

That's the whole reason they have the salt and pepper in little that they can dip into it without contaminating the larger package or salt or pepper shakers. They will toss out any leftover salt and pepper when they're finished preparing the stew.

+Jane Ryan-Douglas first off Im not British second off i was neither disgusted or dismissing it i was just giving my opinion that ive never seen it before, you don't need to give me a big essay basically being triggered over a harmless comment i left. i never said or implied " BEEF STEW IS NOT SERVED ON NOODLES!! WHO THE HELL EATS BEEF STEW WITH PASTA??? I told him to chill because he was being passive aggressive over a comment that honestly wasn't meant in a aggressive manner (it was a joke) but again some keyboard warrior got annoyed by it as per usual

    • Jane Ryan-Douglas
      Jane Ryan-Douglas 12 days ago +1

it really IS odd to see so, so many people acting like somebody is killing kittens by putting stew over noodles. I have a feeling it's mostly Brits doing this. I know that I had stew in England and it was served over boiled potatoes, so that's probably the norm there. It's sometimes done that way in the US as well. But Brits are also likely to overreact to anything that's outside their everyday experience. IOW they can be SHOCKED by something as small as seeing stew served in a different way than they're used to. It should not really be that shocking as potatoes and noodles are both bland starches. They both work well. And whether you realize it or not, there is nothing the least bit strange about serving stews over noodles. To answer your question, yes, it is very widely practiced to serve stew with egg noodles, and its certainly not just in the US. It IS common. So it's kind of funny to tell someone to chill when they're just expressing surprise that people (again I assume mostly Brits) react so strongly to seeing noodles but not telling the people who are overreacting by insisting that "BEEF STEW IS NOT SERVED ON NOODLES!!." or "WHO THE HELL EATS BEEF STEW WITH PASTA???" that maybe they should chill as well. Or maybe that they should give it a try before dismissing it. I've had both. Stew with noodles is vastly better inho.

Hey thanks for your reply. I was referring to a type of pastry/bread which is made from flour, water, cold butter and a few other ingredients. They've been referred to as buttermilk biscuits. Thanks for your explanation. I'll search for a recipe and try to work up the courage to make them at some point. Cheers!

    • mark030531
      mark030531 13 days ago

I don't know which biscuits you're referring to but constantly keeping dough cold is usually done because there's butter involved in the making of it. The French use it for croissants and it's also done for puff pastries. The reason why you need to keep it cold is to avoid having the butter melt while it's not part of the dough yet. It's not that hard but it IS tedious because of the waiting time for dough to reach the right temperature.
