You know what? When you think about it, Scar's behavior after Mufasa's death is more than evil, it's messed up: He can't kill Simba himself, I mean, the whole point of sending him to the graveyard and later the plot with the stampede is partially this, besides not being able to take down Mufasa himself: If he did, his scent would be all over the body along with marks of his claws or teeth. He can lie about marks in Mufasa's paws by saying he was trying to help, but not with fatal wounds (even as I child I got this, pretty obvious).
So, the next best course of action when Simba survives is to send the hyenas after him... What does he do? He basically shatters Simba further by saying his father died because of him, implying how devastated his mother will be and then saying the only thing he can do now is to leave his home forever. And only then Scars sends the hyenas. This is how much Scar resented/hated Simba for being next in line, he isn't satisfied with just killing him and takes the chance to twist the knife. Pretty messed up for a Disney villain, guys...

Jeremy Irons didn’t sing the last part because he lost his voice after he basically screamed the line “You won’t get a sniff without me!”

Yeah, but what he got wrong about the information was that Jeremy Irons screaming "YOU WON'T GET A SNIFF WITHOUT ME" fucked up his voice. He was too into the role. That's why Jim Cummings sang the rest of the song... but yeah, Cummings is a legend!

The fact that for courageously taking responsibility and facing evil Simba is rewarded with betrayal and persecution isn't a writing a flaw, it's deliberate and mirrors the crucifixion story of Christ.

  • Fragonborn Entertainment

The thing about The Lion King is that if you look at the plot on its own, it's a generic fantasy story about the son of a king being exiled for a crime he did not commit by an ambitious uncle who seeks to do evil and eventually returns to take his place as king. However, what the movie does with this tale is what makes it special.

8:10 Seriously?! I know not everyone likes “The Morning Report” song but, that DVD gave you the option of choosing to watch the original or the Morning Report song. So, I don’t get why people are still complaining about that. I think it’s nice to have that from the musical especially since it was cut from the musical in 2010

Totally agree when it comes to "Be Prepared"; I was never a big fan of "Hakuna Matata" or "I just can't wait to be king" (even as a kid), and I only liked "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" when I heard Elton John sing it. "Circle of Life" is good, but I think the entire animated sequence overshadows what I feel about the song on its own. "Be Prepared" however is something I think as epic both in the film and on its own, and it's also the Disney song I have listened to in most languages since Scar is perfect in any language (the same goes for the song in general)
