Plz talk at the beginning cause I got no clue what happening
Have you got a video for mud pies? I might be able to keep up with, and challenge you for a best in prize. Nicely done, sir.
Satisfying hit at 7:03. I liked that one for some reason.
How the hell did you aford all that gear at the age of 20
Hey Alec - you don't know it yet but you are moving to Montana USA!! !!!
so going from W to XC.. sexy!!!
You know what happens when I bring out my *Rapier* ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
A question from a clueless nerd: when you're forge welding what is the cause of the smoke that puffs out of the bar when you put it in the power hammer? Is it just any air that was trapped being forced out or something else?
Alec, the two minute intro freaked me out. Seriously, the best part of your videos is your personality and passion for what you're doing.
You are going to make the most awesome old wizened forge codger.
New levels of Damascus witchcraft right here
First channel I have ever subscribed to, love to watch a craftsman at work!
This is the Gordon Ramsay of forging lol
Very irregular...But it's a good idea!
Camaraman needs to chill. Dont need all that dramatic movement.
A basket hilt is a completely different sword it is not a basket hilt it is a raipier
You make some awesome content man much respect only thing i dont quite like is atleast half of every video is just slow mo cuts
+alectheblacksmith , what is the cleanup in your shop like, both during, and after a project? I know you show us the exciting bits, but there must be a lot more to a project then just what you are showing. :D
Can anyone tell me the advantages of milling flat vs using the surface grinder? Or vise versa?
I'm actually quite interested to know what happens if you make the "W" pattern, turn it into a bar, and then TWIST IT....I'm no blacksmith so I have to hope that one day you see my post and think it's interesting enough to give it a go =P But until then FORGE ON OH MIGHTY BLACKSMITH OF AWESOME!!
I need to win the lottery so I can become a blacksmith apprentice....and carpenters apprentice.....and pro bass angler....and landscape designer....being a tradesman isn’t paying enough for these dreams 😂
You should make Damascus Medallions with your name and face on one side and your touchmark on the obverse; a suggestion.
Did anyone else feel like they were watching a WWE entrance video with the music at the beginning? Lmfao
That is going to look nice when done, I have not watched all of your videos yet. But very nice work there mate.
Song at the beginning?
I like how you timed the music with your forging video at min 19.
I would be tickled if I had access to half the tools in that shop.
I have a massive injuries from construction .. Where i can no longer hear the ping n rythm of hammers and other machines .Alec has cheered me up with his personality and hard work n beautiful music to my ears thx alec xx
thexvid.com/video/mltyuw1mal0/video.html
you see the billet shrink as it cools down, thats cool!
I just started watching his channel and he's awesome young talented
I do not envy you for the propane bill at the end of the month, but your work is top notch
In the process of making my rapier.
Oh man. I thought you'd be using the bronze skull for the basket. Bummer.
Guys, what´s the song at 19:20? Please, Iam desperate.
i wander what the electric bill is like
Who does the video editing and song choices ... this is amazing spot on directing .. Don't get me wrong alex.youre a badass too but that camera work tho .... lolz
inverse "W"s …. you mean "M"s?
this reminds me of someone....who was it again?
pol-
polna-
sth like that hmmmmmm...
Never thought I would be watching forging, first saw you on TA outdoors. I have now wracked up hours upon hours of your video's and can't get enough... Love your enthusiasm..... By the way I am a female and in my 60's and am on Holiday on a beautiful Island called Bali and still taking time out to watch.😂😂😂😂😂
Thrilled you enjoy them! 🙏🙏
I would call the Power Hammer 'The Huffer'!
The hydraulic press looks like an elephant's foot to me! That's what I would call it if I were using it!
who is Douglass its killing me!!!! 15:50
I love the way you trill your R’s.......though shall count to three before throwing thy holy hand grenade.....
aye thanks for keeping Scotlands historic artifacts safe for us. Wallace would be ecstatic
Brim full of damascus on the 45
how would one get into being a blacksmith?
did you take up your dad's job or somthing???
Just wondering, why do you like making folded steel swords so much?
After binge watching the Katana build, I thought what sword would be the next biggest challenge and extremely fun? Well a damascus basket hilt rapier of sorts. I watched the Roman Gladius next and saw that you did indeed do the series I wanted in the side bar so time to binge watch the Rapier series. :)
I'd love to see Alec make a small sword. I've always wondered how to make the hollow triangle blades like that. I can't find anything about it online.
Alec, did you ever notice that your right arm is considerably bigger than your left?
I think twisting the bullet slightly no so much like making twistied Damascus but very course so it looked like the solid steel is snaking it's away around the Damascus
As a recent subscriber, I'm, slowly, bing-watching all the special projects. What have I learned from watching Alec's videos and other master blacksmiths'/bladesmiths'? Even though there's a lot of 'whacking' and hammering, it's attention to quality control and precise measurements that makes for a Damascus steel blade that is out-of-this-world! Looking forward to the remainder of Alec's project videos.
Love your Art! Inspiring to watch, and entertainingly educational. Thank you!
Banyak bacot lu
Why cut the billet in half instead of folding it?
found this channel from the bridgeport video. Love it. Got lots of content to watch now. Keep it up!
you should do a project, where make something to display all your piece :D
but a rapier is a double edged weapon, so you really should have used 2 blocks of the 1055 or a stack that went damascus/1055/damascus so that the grind can give you 2 cutting edges.
you're going to draw the bar out into the rapier using the 1055 as the blades edge
Dude! I freaking love your videos. They’re so damn entertaining. You also do some pretty damn good work. Just wanted to let you know that I truly appreciate all your videos, all the labor, money, and care that you place in making every single video! I’m sure you hear it all the time but, man, thanks tremendously for taking the time to make these high-quality videos! I enjoy watching you make your masterpieces; they are a true work of complexity, integrity, genius, crafting skill, and most certainly, a labor of love. Keep up the good work, and again, thank you so much for the videos!
Are you in Texas?
Use high carbon borax flux. Lowers oxidation. Graphite and borax....
i would like to see something made out of explosion pattern damascus
Very cool Alec! I came over from TA Outdoors. You definitely earned my sub!! :)
can you call "inverse w's" m&m's?
“Imagine that the orange is blue” only if your colour blind... hehehe
How much do you have to account for loss during the forging process? It looks like a substantial amount of material flakes off with all the pounding.
Wow you tig? your a god, why don’t you use mig or stick welding it’s so much easier?
who skipped the intro like me?
It all looks too showy, so I hate to say it, but... I am loving the heck out of this! XD
“We’re gonna give her a little squeeze”
“Give it some more squeezes”
-Alec
Dude I've been watching sense 240,000 subs damn 761 ,000 keep up the great quality work
That was an intro... damn' 0__o
Raper sword......meh seems legit.
Rapier is one of my favorite swords. Good choice.
Oh boy, this is gonna last WAY too long.
How many HP is the pump on that press? Its a fast mover!
Alec, I'm a machinist by trade. And although I haven't had much surface grinding experience, I was always taught that once you had dressed the wheel, you never let it stop until you have finished grinding. We have a sign that we put on the grinder when we go for lunch that says "caution, wheel running" so that we don't have to keep dressing it. As soon as you stop the wheel and restart it, it becomes unbalanced. That's why you dress it when you start and leave it running until your finished. If you stop the spindle then you have to dress the wheel. Also, never start the coolant and then the spindle, it causes the wheel to become unbalanced.
Love the channel, keep up the good work!
These videos are so hypnotic, even if you have no idea what he is talking about, it is still really enjoyable.
Dear Alec, sorry for not watching your videos for the last 6 month's. (Theres no good reason, I just did) but I looked through some of the videos and am glad I came back, keep up the amazeing work as always man!
always a pleasure to watch your videos Alec. good stuff to you and your team
You could also use a round Aluminum stick to make a square angle
please make a Khopesh its an ancient egyptian sword
So I got a quick question, since I don't know much about this kind of stuff I got confused when he started talking about the different metals with carbon I thin kit was so basically what does the carbon have to do with the metals? Lol sorry to be a bother
Wow, 725k subs! Hats off to you! Well earned indeed!
P.S. You need to get some local metal band to jam in the backgroud while you forge some time. (You have the space, heh)
Pls pls tell me, where did you learned all this? I really want to be a skilled blacksmith just like you (I'm a brazilian, sorry for my bad english)
what is the name of the soundtrack in the beginning ?
His British accent in a mask or loud noises sounds like something very familiar I don’t know what tbh
I would like to see you make butterfly swords
I'm 100% confident that it will look amazing but you said rapier. Lol. Sorry. I'm rapier than you. Sorry twice lol
I don't know who edited this but their a genius. The power hammer always matches the background music.
Watching the impurities flake off on those big billets is so fekking satisfying
Don’t do grayscale, please.
Dam pen
machinist here. milling is for making stuff square. that ball bearing thing was an extra step you didnt need. get one side square and youve got your reference fore the rest.
This is blacksmithing
Hei alec ur visor is it like rayban?
Hey Alec one tip is to leave the surface grinder on after truing it up. The initial jolt from starting it can throw the wheel off whack!
You, good Sir, are a wizard!
